|Withings released its activity tracker into the American market yesterday, aimed at the large market of joggers and runners throughout the country. The Withings Pulse is designed to be readily available while remaining unobtrusive in size. With a full functioning OLED touch surface, users can navigate their 14-day data history that includes tracking of steps taken, distance covered, elevation, calories burned, and quality of sleep. Withings Pulse is unique in respects to other activity trackers for its ability to not only automatically detect running, but can measure heart rate with its on-board heart rate sensor. The device can hold a charge up to two weeks, and is charged by USB port or power supply unit.
Withings Pulse, along with other Withings products, is compatible with many third-party applications that can manage the data collected by Pulse. The activity tracker can connect via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to native apps, allowing users to share data with social networking sites and over 100 other apps. Withings Pulse is available for preorder for $100.
Myspace releases early growth figures post-launch
Yesterday, Myspace announced its initial 14-day statistics regarding the public response to the revision of the social networking company. With its renewed focus being on creative expression and music, and release of its iOS app platform, Myspace reports to have had 31 million unique visitors, with 34 percent of the traffic coming by way of mobile access. The company has supported its launch of its app and rebranding with a $20 million dollar marketing campaign, and generating partnerships with other high-profile brands, such as Jimmy Kimmel Live!, offering live-streaming concert series which began June 18. The Myspace app is available for free on iTunes.
