Apple updates Digital Camera Raw, Canon inkjet drivers
Apple has updated its Digital Camera Raw Compatibility add-on for iPhoto '11 and Aperture 3.x with an update to version 4.07, which adds support for two new Panasonic cameras and a Sony Alpha model. In addition the company added support for some new Canon printer and scanner models. The Raw file update is for Lion and Mountain Lion only, while the Canon drivers update stretches back to Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6.1 or higher).

The Digital Camera Raw update adds image compatibility for iPhoto '11 and Aperture 3.x for the new Panasonic Lumix DMC-G6, the DMC-GF6 and the Sony Alpha SLT-A58. A wide variety of older camera models from a range of manufacturers is also supported, and the add-on works with the library of either program. The Raw update combo version totals 6.11MB, and requires OS X 10.7.5 or higher for Lion, and 10.8.2 or later for Mountain Lion.

The Canon 2.12 update for its drivers adds the iP7200 series of printers, the MG5400 and MG6300 series of combo printer/scanners, and the Pro-10 and Pro-100 printers. No other Canon printers, scanners or AIO units are affected, and thus only owners of the updated models will see the upgrade in their Software Update. The Canon driver package in full can be downloaded from Apple's support downloads website, and is 200.46MB in size.
