Dell to finally ship XPS M1330 this week
Dell has at last begun shipping the XPS M1330, according to a new update from the company's official blog. The 13.3-inch gaming system has encountered a number of delays since its announcement in June that have prevented its shipping as expected. The Texas-based PC maker did not specify what had triggered the more than month-long delay but noted that the extra-thin LED backlit display was the most likely extra to delay ship times. Other general setbacks such as "part shortages, technical glitches, [and] simple cosmetic issues" could also play a role, Dell noted.
Customers who had ordered systems since the late June introduction were told in the update to expect ship times matching those first seen when the notebooks were ordered. Customers who had ordered the LED-lit display or other, more exotic components were told that a delay was uncertain but that they could expect notice if their choices were liable to push back the actual ship date.
The glitch is the second to affect Dell in as many weeks, as the system builder had been forced to scale back its XPS 720 H2C gaming tower due to a shortage of Core 2 Extreme chips that can run reliably at the peak 3.73GHz clock speed.
