When plugged into a computer's ExpressCard slot, the adapter adds two FireWire 400 ports, as well as a single USB 2.0 connection. This allows users to attach a number of devices, such as cameras, iPods or even other computers, all of which are configured automatically as if connected to a dedicated port. The card fits into both ExpressCard/34 and 54 slots, but is currently only compatible with PCs running Windows Vista or XP SP2; MacBook Pros will be compatible with the release of Mac OS X 10.5 in October. Sonnet is selling the card for $70.
