The official response has not expanded on when or if Microsoft intends to complete a Windows-based XO system and how the system will be distributed. The current Linux model has largely been restricted to shipments to developing-world schools outside of a limited-run sale to North American customers during the holidays. Microsoft has most often focused on first-world education and only recently began offering low-cost copies of Windows.
