Pentax intros 12MP Optio S12, more for PMA
Alongside its K-series updates, Pentax tonight revealed a trio of point-and-shoot models as its entries in the PMA photography show. The Optio S12 is one of the smallest 12-megapixel cameras yet, the company claims, and produces features expected of some larger models such as ISO 3200 sensitivity in its anti-blur model. It will also be one of the least-expensive cameras in the category when it ships in April for $280.

At the opposite end of camera design, the Optio M50 concerns its self more with zoom and style over sensor depth, according to Pentax. While lower-resolution at 8 megapixels, the M50 contains a 5X lens and will come in blue, pink, and silver hues. It also promises a higher ISO 6400 sensitivity level and will be ready by March for $230.

For newcomers, the Optio E50 rounds out the line. Also an 8-megapixel camera, it uses lower-cost AA batteries as a power source, zooms to 3X, and is capped at ISO 1600 sensitivity. Pentax delivers the E50 in March for $150.
