MySpace has officially entered the public beta for its Developer Platform, a framework that lets coders produce applications using Google's OpenSocial standard. Because of OpenSocial, some creations may eventually migrate to other social networking sites, such as Friendster. Both OpenSocial and the Developer Platform are seen as a challenge to Facebook, whose popularity has been attributed to web apps such as iLike and Scrabulous.Through the beta, some applications are already available to people with MySpace profiles. Metachat enables live conversation, while Photo Shout Out enables people to combine photos with voice and send them to others. Games are present as well, such as Darts and Ace Texas Hold'em Poker.
