Intel NetBook computer leaked? |
A secret in spite of the sibling NetTop platform's unveiling, photos and specifications have allegedly leaked for Intel's forthcoming NetBook. An employee with a US OEM claims to have obtained a sample system, intended for educational purposes; the computer runs Windows XP Pro, and operates on a 900MHz Celeron processor with 512MB of RAM, a 40GB hard drive and an Ethernet connection. The screen measures nine inches, and a conspicuous handle allows quick transport.Crucially, the OEM worker claims that the computer will be available in June, at a price of approximately $400. This puts it in the same price range as ASUS' popular Eee PCs, which typically ship with Linux, a seven-inch screen, and a 4 or 8GB SSD drive. The specifications of the leaked NetBook conflict with earlier rumors however, which pegged the price at $250-300, and the processor as one of Intel's new Diamondville-spec Atom chips.
