Nokia's Tube touchscreen phone now has a more definitive name, launch window, and specs, according to a leak from NokiaPort. To be called the Nokia 5800 XpressMedia, the phone will sit on top of the 5000-series music phone line with its touchscreen as only one of its main features; the new model is now believed to have a 3.2-megapixel camera and native 3.5mm headphone jack in addition to the 3G Internet access and Wi-Fi already established in recent leaks.
The handset's display is also confirmed as smaller than its Apple counterpart at 3.2 inches but will be sharper, offering a 640x360 widescreen resolution. Vibration feedback is already understood to be in place.
The leak more crucially points to a tentative announcement of the 5800 XpressMedia late this year, raising the possibility of ship dates either in a similar timeframe or else in early 2009. Quad-band GSM support will let the device work for calls and a minimum of 2G data in North America, though Western support for 3G is still uncertain.
