Sony PlayTV for PS3, Go!Vie...
Sony Computer Entertainment Europe on Tuesday announced release dates for its long-awaited PlayTV add-on for the PS3 and Go!View video service for the PSP. PlayTV will enable the PS3's hard drive to record TV shows thanks to its dual TV tuners. The included software has a 7-day programming guide, and the recorded programs can be viewed remotely over Wi-Fi or transferred to the PSP as well.

The other news from the electronics giant revolve around the Go!View video service for the PSP portable gaming system. The service will be subscription-based or work on a pay-per-view system, and will allow users to download TV content for their PSP from a dedicated website. Unlike previously believed, the Sky box will not be necessary, as users can use their PCs. Subscribers will have access to entertainment and sports TV shows, as well as movies. Sony mentioned a similar set-up will launch for its PS3 console as well, but did not reveal any timelines.

The PlayTV will cost an equivalent of about $154 when it launches in the UK this September. The Go!View service will launch in the UK on June 30 along with Ireland and France, although no pricing details have been revealed. [via Pocket-lint]
