LG launches HB620T flip phone with DVB-H TV

LG on Tuesday announced its LG-HB620T flip phone, which is capable of delivering streaming TV to users thanks to its Digital Video Broadcasting - Handheld (DVB-H) support. Thus far, only select countries in the European Union widely stream DVB-H content, which has become the European mobile TV standard.

Over-the-air TV programs will be displayed on the tri-band GSM HB620T's 2-inch, 240x320-pixel screen, which will also play back the videos and images captured by its 2-megapixel camera or uploaded to its external microSD memory card or 60MB of internal memory. Other features of LG's newest offering include a digital music player, high-speed HSDPA data network support, as well as Bluetooth.

The HB620T joins the Nokia N77, N92 and Samsung F510 in delivering streaming digital TV. DVB-H programming is available in Germany, France, Greece, Czech Republic and Austria, while Italy, the Netherlands and Finland offer limited commercial streaming.

The LG-HB620T will launch in Germany first at T-Mobile, Vodafone and O2 Germany, with more markets shortly thereafter. A U.S. launch for the HB620T is not likely, as DVB-H is not offered in North America. [via Akihabara]
