In addition to the 800w, Palm is designing a thinner, sleeker Treo for GSM networks, BGR confirms through a leak. The Treo 850 is likely to replace the 750 but should be thinner at roughly the same depth as a BlackBerry 8800 and will move the phone's design upscale with a chromed directional pad and an overall look that more closely reflects a new style introduced with the Centro.

The smartphone should also carry over the use of Windows Mobile from the earlier phone and is likely to sport 3G cellular data over HSPA; few other details have been released, though the new Treo will allegedly run a mid-grade 400MHz processor and carry 100MB of RAM.

Launch timeframes and prices for the 850 aren't available, though Palm itself has warned investors not to expect any new Treo models until the summer, putting a release towards the second half of 2008. A launch is likely through AT&T in the US as well as international carriers such as Vodafone.
