About two weeks later than originally promised, Sony and Sky have today launched the Go!View video-on-demand service for the PlayStation Portable gaming system. The Go!View service will allow users to transfer content downloaded via PC TV to their PSPs. Subscribers will be able to download TV shows such as Lost, Desperate Housewives and Top Gear, among others, as well as FA Premier League soccer and full-length movies.
Subscribers will be able to pick from various programming packages, including Comedy, Sports and Entertainment, with each costing £5 (about $10), a combination of two priced at £8 (or about $16) or all three for £10 ($20). Single episodes of TV shows will be priced at nearly $3, while movies will cost $5. Content will be regularly updated, though it isn't known how often exactly.
The companies are currently offering one month's free trial when UK and Ireland residents register for the service, although it isn't known how long this launch promotion will last. A similar system for the PS3 gaming console, called PlayTV, is expected to launch soon. [via Pocket-lint]
