Sprint recently announced a pair of Samsung handsets introduced earlier, the Rant and Highnote, are now shipping through the wireless network provider. The Rant has the distinction of being Sprint's lowest-cost handset with the capability of accessing Sprint's 3G network, which can be taken advantage of thanks to the phone's sliding design that reveals a full QWERTY keyboard. The Highnote's sliding design reveals either a pair of stereo speakers or a dialing pad depending on the slide direction.

Both handsets are some of the first to sport Sprint's One Click user interface that can be customized with shortcuts to more heavily-used apps.

The phones offer access to the provider's Sprint TV service and Sprint Music Store, as well as Sprint Radio. Sprint Navigation is supported, with GPS-enabled audio and visual turn-by-turn driving directions. Push email support for POP3 accounts from AOL, Yahoo, Windows Live and Gmail, as well as corporate accounts, exists in either handset as well.

The handsets include a 2-megapixel camera, stereo Bluetooth support and SDHC memory card slots that allow users to expand their memory by up to 16GB. The Highnote has a 3.5mm headphone jack to deliver music via regular headphones.

The Samsung Rant, available in red or black with purple as an exclusive to Best Buy, is priced at about $50 with a two-year contract and after a $50 mail-in rebate, while the Highnote, available in red or blue, costs about $100 with a two-year contract and after a $50 mail-in rebate.
