The Eye-Fi SD cards have built-in 802.11g Wi-Fi adapters to wirelessly transfer content to Macs or PCs without the need to connect the camera via a USB cable. After purchase, the card can be upgraded to automatically upload via hotspots and geotag photos. Users travelling have access to over 10,000 Wayport (soon AT&T) hotspots that allow automatic uploads without a computer. The geotagging is possible thanks to a partnership with Skyhook Wireless that positions the Wi-Fi signal in relation to known hotspots.

The range of the Wi-Fi transfer is estimated to push past 90 feet outdoors and more than 45 feet indoors. A newly introduced feature for Eye-Fi memory cards is the integrated social networking integration through Twitter and the ability to send out RSS feeds that notify networks about the recent upload of new photos.

Now available online and at major retail chains, the Eye-Fi 4GB Anniversary Edition SD Card is priced at just shy of $130. The company is also taking the opportunity to announce expansion of sales into Canada and Japan by year's end due to high demand.
