Verizon announces USB760 Micro Modem
Verizon has announced the availability of the Novatel-made USB760 Micro Modem for its wireless broadband network. The device is relatively small, measuring 2.24 inches by one inch, and weighs less than an ounce. The carrier claims real-world download speeds of 600Kbps to 1400Kbps and upload performance of 500Kbps to 800Kbps. The integrated dual-band antenna is internal, although a connector is provided to attach an optional external antenna. A microSD slot allows the modem to be used as impromptu storage.

Verizon includes its VZAccess Manager software for connection management and text messaging. The package also comes with NovaSpeed software, claimed to optimize performance for increased transfer speeds while simultaneously uploading and downloading data.

The USB760 Micro Modem works with EVDO Rev. A, Rev. 0, and 1XRTT standards, and is now available through Verizon's business channels. Customers will be able to purchase the device at Verizon stores beginning December 1st for $100 after a $50 mail-in rebate and signing a two year contract. The company offers a $40 monthly plan that allows 50MB data usage, or 5GB for $60 per month.
