Verizon-exclusive Windows Phone pre-orders begin, ships April 12

Verizon has quietly launched the Samsung ATIV SE on its network, and has started to accept pre-orders of the device. Just as previously rumored, the Verizon-exclusive smartphone will be shipping with Windows Phone 8 onboard instead of Windows Phone 8.1, though it is likely that Samsung will be providing an update to the newer operating system shortly after release.

Samsung's next Windows Phone device will not come with Windows Phone 8.1 pre-installed, according to leaked specifications. The Verizon-bound ATIV SE, pictured in another leak last month with a Windows Phone 8.1 interface, will apparently launch with Windows Phone 8, instead receiving the newer mobile operating system as an update after its launch.

Codename Huron shows Windows Phone 8.1, front and rear

New images of the Samsung ATIV SE, previously codenamed the Huron, have surfaced. The leaked images show the Windows Phone 8.1 smartphone as barely changing from its previous appearance, though the addition of carrier branding on the front shows it will be heading to Verizon, and is the second device exclusive to the carrier to leak in the last few days, after the LG Lucid 3.

Samsung could be creating a large-screened smartphone running Windows Phone, and may be close to launching it, according to recently-surfaced information. A filing for the SM-W750V shows it as being approved by the Bluetooth SIG, with an accompanying User Agent profile suggesting it to be a device with a 1920x1080-resolution, 5-inch display.

Offering a 4.3-inch 720p display, a dual-core Snapdragon 400 processor with 1GB of RAM, and the 4-megapixel UltraPixel camera, the HTC One Mini will ship through Rogers from November 4th, though the carrier has yet to disclose its price.

ATIV Book 9 Plus gains more RAM, SSD storage, retains monitor

Samsung has revealed an upgraded version of its high-resolution ATIV Book 9 Plus that it will be shipping in the near future. The new model ships with Windows 8.1, an Intel Core i7 processor instead of the Core i5 in the original, a maximum of 8Gb of RAM instead of 4GB, and also has a larger 256GB SSD storage compared to the 128GB SSD available at launch.

TheATIV Book 9 Plus, spotted at B&H earlier this week, will be open to preorder fropm August 18th for $1,400 with shipping expected to take place not long after, while the ATIV Tab 3 will be going on sale on September 1st for $700 bundled with a Bluetooth keyboard cover and S Pen.

The ATIV Book 9 Plus is a 13.3-inch notebook with a high-resolution display replacing the Series 9, the Book 9 Lite is a more conventional style notebook, and the ATIV One 5 Style is an all-in-one device designed with the same style as the Galaxy smartphone range.

Before being pulled from view, the site revealed that the ATIV Book 6 notebook has a Full HD 15.6-inch touchscreen running on Windows 8, and will be launched in the United States in the near future.
