AVerMedia dual TV tuner

AVerMedia on Monday announced it has released its AVerTVHD Duet dual TV tuner in North America. The Windows 7-compatible product can receive over-the-air HD Digital TV signals (ATSC) or unencrypted digital cable (ClearQAM) and can either record two programs simultaneously or else allow users to watch one program while recording another. AVerTVHD Duet sports a PCI Express interface that is faster than a traditional PCI connection.

AVerMedia on Wednesday introduced the AVerVision VP-1 Portable Visual Presenter that allows users on a budget to put up larger images of documents or 3D objects on a connected TV or PC screen or a blackboard using a connected projector during presentations. The document camera has a 2-megapixel camera with an 8x digital zoom and auto focus. Weighing in at just 2.7lbs, the VP-1 folds up for travel but can still project A4-sized sheets or images.

AVerMedia on Thursday introduced the AVerTV Hybrid TVBox 11, which offers users the ability to receive over-the-air HDTV signals, either analog or digital, as well as serving as a multimedia hub. It allows users to connect a host of high-definition source devices to their monitors or projectors, as well as their standard-definition TVs, and can turn their PC monitors into HDTVs thanks to its hybrid TV tuner. The TVBox 11 has an ATSC and Clear QAM digital cable tuner in addition to analog TV, enabling DVI and VGA monitors to display the content.

AVerMedia's NVR with Wi-Fi

AVerMedia today announced the launch of its EB1704HB WiFi-4 NVR instant network video recorder, meant for use in homes and small businesses. The package includes the Network Video Recorder main unit, a wireless router and four wireless IP cameras that are ready to set-up, with no configuration needed. Because there are no wires, apart from the power cords, AverMedia claims a 10-minute set up time. The system features motion-detecting sensors that trigger recording to make efficient use of hard drive space.

AVerMedia readies Mac-friendly TV tuners

AVerMedia Mac Tuners Soon

AVerMedia is developing TV tuners and software to match that will support Mac users, the company said today. A shift from the company's typical Windows-only appraoch will see it release a USB tuner that picks up both analog broadcasts as well as over-the-air digital standards, including Europe's DVB-T. The company plans to supply Mac-specific features such as Apple Remote support and a viewing app similar in style to Apple's pro software.

AVerMedia Technologies today began shipping its new AVerVision CP300 Interactive Portable Document Camera. The CP300 offers new network sharing capability, where users can access live images and control a document camera in any classroom or location on a school campus. "The ability to connect all document cameras in one campus together through the existing Local Area Network now provides the ability for multiple classrooms, or even the entire school to view and share live document camera lessons and demonstrations," the company said. Users can control annotation, image capture, video recording, zoom, and more by each classroom accessing the demonstration on the network. AVerMedia's CP300 is available for $800.

AVerMedia rolls Bravo Hybrid tuner with H.264 capture

AVerMedia has a new option for avid TV viewers looking to record iPod-ready video, the company said today. The AVerTV Bravo Hybrid plugs into a PCI Express slot and picks up HD signals through ATSC and ClearQAM tuning as well as NTSC for analog signals. Relatively unique to the expansion card, however, is native H.264 video encoding: TV up to and including 1080i and 720p HD can be captured in the format both to save disk space and for downscaling for use on some video-capable music players, such as iPods. A special gaming mode for Windows Vista systems with Media Center can guarantee that both audio and video are in sync for time-sensitive titles.
