Hanshin intros Wireless USB home theater kit
South Korea's Hanshin is now producing the Icreon WUSB multimedia station that can connect an HDTV to a Windows-based PC wirelessly. The HUWB-3000 Kit relies on Alereon Wireless USB technology to send data over a short range at 220Mbps speeds. Users need to connect the source and output TVs using either VGA or HDMI and optical audio for 5.1-channel sound or standard jacks for stereo sound to the Icreon sender and receiver boxes.

Alereon iPhone accessory
Alereon on Monday announced it will show off an Ultra WideBand (UWB) AL5301 peripheral for iPhone and iPods that would allow users to sync the devices with PCs and Macs wirelessly. At the same time, the adapter has an extra battery pack that provides extra operating life for the Apple devices, though its capacity or how much time it will add is unknown. The AL5301 will be shown to the public at the Computex show in Taipei scheduled for later in June. In the future, the AL5301 will allow for a wireless connection to HDTVs for showcasing photos or videos.

TZero ceases operations
A company that focused on developing a wireless HDMI technology and standard, TZero, is out of business, a Thursday EETimes post notes. The company has been developing wireless HDMI technology using ultra-wideband (UWB) but has been forced to close prematurely by the poor market conditions that began last year. TZero joins Intel and others that have stopped their own in-house development of UWB.
