Pioneer Elite VSX-30 and VSX-31 arrive
Pioneer today rolled out a pair of new Elite AV receivers that bring some of its more advanced features to a lower price level. All of them, including models like the VSX-30 and VSX-31 (links active soon), support iPhone and iPod control through the company's custom iControl AV mobile app. They similarly share the option of Bluetooth audio with an adapter, HDMI 1.4a for 3D support, and a new "wide" surround that produces a better sense of motion with virtual height and 9.1-channel surround options.
Oppo BDP-83 now shipping
Oppo is now shipping its flagship Blu-ray player, the BDP-83, with shoppers anywhere in North America able to purchase it from Amazon. First announced last year, the player has Anchor Bay video processing and supports SACD and DVD Audio discs. Users can also play back content on USB flash drivers thanks to a pair of USB ports, there is an Ethernet jack for accessing BD-Live content and there is a full set of connections for 7.1-channel analog audio support.
DVDO EDGE video processor
Anchor Bay Technologies on Friday announced it will soon release its DVDO EDGE 1080p upscaling video processor for home theaters. The audiovisual hub includes six HDMI 1.3 Deep Color inputs, two HDMI 1.3 outputs and a full complement of various other analog and digital A/V connections. It upscales video content thanks to Anchor Bay's Video Reference Series technologies, which include 10-bit de-interlacing and progressive reprocessing of files that would otherwise deinterlace poorly.
