Apogee has just introduced the Jam adapter for connecting electric and bass guitars to iOS 4.3 devices and Macs. They can then record their performances and an integrated control knob adjusts the gain. The digital converter processes the sound at each stage of the circuit to boost the signal-to-noise ratio.
With every 2010 Mac and even some Windows PCs now supporting audio through Mini DisplayPort, it was about time that adapters readily exist to feed that output to its most logical destination: an HDMI-equipped TV. Apogee has officially announced its promised Kanex-branded HDMI to Mini DisplayPort Converter. It lets users connect any HDMI source device into a 27-inch iMac, LED Cinema Display or any other Apple device that has an mDP input. This includes sourches such as the PS3, Xbox 360 or Blu-ray player and the device will even pass through audio to the iMac's two-channel speakers. It supports HDMI 1.3 and DisplayPort/Mini DisplayPort 1.1a.
Apogee today promised an upcoming adapter that would give owners of the 27-inch iMac and LED Cinema Display the option of using the display for HDMI-based sources. The Kanex-branded HDMI to Mini DisplayPort adapter should work with any typical HDMI device and has been shown working with Blu-ray players, the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It should also pipe data from a Mac mini using its mini DVI output as the source.
