Comcast preps Skype cam for cable hardware
Comcast is preparing its own webcam for Skype video calls that could bypass the usual computing link. Both an FCC filing noted by Wireless Goodness as well as a leak to Engadget have pointed to the camera, called Astro, attaching to a cable set-top box with an HDMI passthrough for other sources. It could work audio-only or with text and would support picture-in-picture to avoid completely interrupting an ongoing show.

Garmin updates Astro dog tracking with DC 40
Garmin on Friday announced the upcoming release of its DC 40 tracking collar that will replace the DC 30 in its Astro GPS Dog Tracking System. Meant for helping to find a hunting dog that went to fetch downed game, the new collar is more durable and convenient. The GPS puck is integrated into the main housing as opposed to being on top of the collar as in the DC 30.

Astro Gaming shows A30 gaming headset
Astro Gaming on Tuesday introduced the A30 headset, which can be used as headphones for digital audio players or cellphones as well as a communications device for gamers with an optional device. The A30 is said to be a more lifestyle-oriented version of the company's A40 flagship offering.
