Razer opens up pre-orders of 14-inch Blade notebook

Razer has put its 14-inch Blade notebook up for pre-order. The portable gaming computer has a 1600x900 display, a Haswell-based quad-core Intel processor running at 2.2GHz, Nvidia GTX 765M graphics, 8GB of RAM, and the choice of 128, 256, or 512GB SSD storage inside a case just 0.71-inches thick. Set for shipping in two to three weeks, the Razer Blade is priced at $1,800 for the lowest capacity SSD, $2,000 for 256GB, and $2,300 for the largest.

Razer Blade equipped with 14-inch display, Haswell, Nvidia GTX 765M GPU

Razer has unveiled a pair of gaming notebooks that are both less than an inch thick. The updated Blade and the larger Blade Pro refine the design of the gaming peripheral producer's previous notebook, while also updating the internal components to include a fourth-generation Haswell processor from Intel, and moving from an Nvidia GTX 660M to a GTX 765M GPU.

Improvements made to heat dissipation system

Razer is putting its gaming notebook back on sale, with some improvements. The Blade retains most of its original design, including the LCD multi-touch display and ten dynamic adaptive keys on one side that give extra customizable controls to games and applications. The major change seen in it is a complete reworking of its thermal system, using larger vents and specially designed heat pipes to divert high temperatures away from sensitive components.

Company "working hard" to meet demand

Razer has announced that it has sold out of the first batch of its Blade gaming notebooks within 30 minutes. The high-end notebooks were originally slated for the holidays, however the launch was eventually delayed until late January as the company made a last-minute decision to switch to SSD storage.

ZTE sees US just as important as China in 2012

ZTE plans to double its smartphone numbers this year as it expands out of China, cellphone strategy head Lv Qianhao said in an interview Tuesday. Its motherland and the US would be the "key engines" for growth in 2012 as it focused on higher-end devices, he explained to Reuters. Best known for its budget Android phones, it was leaning towards the high end and just recently unveiled the Tania, its first Windows Phone.

ZTE FTV in a Fashion TV tie-up shows up

Chinese handset maker ZTE has teamed up with Fashion TV on its first fashion-oriented smartphone, the FTV. It has the same technical specs as the original San Francisco available at Orange, GSMArena found. Unique to the phone are the FTV paint and logos along with exclusive FTV apps, wallpapers, widgets and other content.

Razer CEO explains Blade delay

Razer chief Min-Liang Tan stated this week that the Blade's SSD upgrade would lead to the gaming notebook missing the holidays. The switch to the much faster storage happened at the "eleventh hour," he said, making it impossible to ship in 2011. The first models of the 17-inch notebook would ship in mid-to-late January instead.

ZTE V881 Blade+ brings Android, is just $158 contract-free

ZTE V881 Blade Plus arrives

ZTE is promising to raise the bar somewhat for the most entry level in smartphones through the V881 Blade+. The design recently passed certification and will cost just 1,000 yuan ($158) despite having features from a more advanced phone from a year ago. A 3.8-inch, 480x800 touchscreen will come along with a second-generation 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 512MB of RAM, and a five-megapixel camera.

Razer to bring out smaller gaming devices than Switchblade

Razer working on small gaming device, said CEO

Gaming peripherals and device maker Razer will release a small gaming system, the company's CEO, Min-Liang Tan, revealed to PCWorld. Currently, the only gaming system the company makes and plans to release next month is the 17.3-inch Blade, which is a gaming notebook. Tan simply referred to the products as small form factor systems and didn't provide any more details.

Razer Blade notebook has custom gaming overlay

Razer wrapped up its teaser run with word of its first-ever PC, the Blade. The gaming notebook has the 17-inch profile of a desktop replacement but is both inspired by the design of 17-inch MacBook Pro while beating it in key areas: at .88 inches thick and 6.97 pounds with an aluminum body, it's almost as light as Apple's system but is slightly thinner.

LG kicks out ultra-slim Blade P430 and P530 notebooks

LG Blade P430 and P530 pack Shuriken displays

LG on Tuesday morning trotted out a pair of new mid-size notebooks that potentially defy categories. The Blade P430 and P530 both use the same Shuriken display technology behind the Xnote P210 and have extra-thin screens, at under 0.19mm thick, as well as very narrow bezels. The P430's 14-inch display still fits into the frame of a 13.3-inch notebook where the 15.6-inch P530 steers away from the near desktop replacement size of most systems with its screen.
