STM announces Dux rugged cases for iPad, iPhone 6 and 6 Plus
STM Bags has announced the release of its new Dux case for iPad, along with versions for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Described as offering "rugged" protection from drops and general wear and tear, the Dux case consists of a rubberized bracket and polycarbonate exterior. Its clear back allows for customizing the appearance of the device, or letting the back of the iPhone or iPad remain visible. The Dux for iPad (priced at $50) features sizes designed for iPad Air 2, iPad Air, iPad 2 through 4, iPad mini, as well as mini 2 and 3, and is available in blue, red, and black. Dux for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus (priced at $30) are available in black and red.
Leather wallet case for iPhone 6 now available through TwelveSouth
TwelveSouth has announced the release of its Bookbook wallet case for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Comprised of genuine leather, the wallet case additionally functions as a hands-free stand, and disguises one's iPhone to look like a vintage book. The Bookbook features a removable shell that protects the enclosed iPhone from damage. Priced at $60, the Bookbook for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus is available in black and brown.
Bluetooth keyboard, case combo features wider space between keys, rechargeable battery
(Updated with corrected Type+ pricing) Logitech announced a new case and keyboard combo for the iPad Air today, the Type+. Like many other Bluetooth keyboards for tablets, the Type+ is powered by an internal battery. In this case, the battery is said to last up to three months on a single charge, according to Logitech. The case portion uses clips in the corners to hold onto the iPad, also using magnets to hold the cover closed. The Type+ auto-wakes or auto-sleeps the iPad Air, depending if the cover is open or not. The case does make the tablet a little thicker, as it bumps up to 0.71 inches.
TweetDeck updated for OS X, adds Regional + City level Trends
TweetDeck by Twitter has received an update for OS X. The app is designed for publishers, marketers and power users of Twitter, and features a customizable layout for the social networking platform. Tweetdeck v3.8.4 offers the ability to find locally trending topics for Regions and Cities, adding a column based on the trend.
Incase introduces new thin, lightweight sleeve for MacBook Pro, iPad
Mac accessories producer Incase has announced the introduction of its newest sleeve case for MacBook Pro and iPad. The Icon Sleeve features a construction comparable to that of performance footwear, offering lightweight framing material that can absorb shock. The sleeve protects the device on its outer edge, making it less vulnerable to damage. Its sleeve panels are neoprene, featuring soft flexibility. Priced at $60, the Icon Sleeve is available online through Incase and at Apple store locations.
Puppy Pop is first game made for the LG G3's QuickCircle case window
LG has made its case for the G3 smartphone arguably more useful, by releasing the first game designed specifically to use it. Puppy Pop, a "match-three" game involving dogs, is being made available for free through Google Play later today, and is notably the first and only to use the round window on the front of the company's QuickCircle protective case.
Spotify app update adds Play Queue, sorting and filtering for iPhone
Music streaming service Spotify has updated its iOS app, adding new features for iPhone users. Spotify allows users to search for any track, artist or album, make and share playlists, and build a preferred music collection. The release of v1.4 features a Play Queue for iPhone, and a new confirmation for avoid duplicates in a playlist. Within the Your Music section, users can now sort and filter music in their Spotify collection. Free to download, Spotify's iOS app can be found through the iTunes App Store.
English rock band Bastille to play tomorrow's WWDC Bash
Apple has revealed that its annual party thrown in conjunction with WWDC, Bash, will feature a performance from English rock band Bastille. Held at the Yuerba Buena Gardens in San Francisco, Apple is additionally giving invited developers promotional codes for two free Bastille downloads on the iTunes Store. Bastille is best known for their current hit, "Pompeii."
StubHub announces music-focused app for iOS
StubHub has launched StubHub Music (formerly ShowDrift), an iOS app focused on recommending live, local music events based on the user's existing tastes and preferences. Connecting fans with artists, StubHub Music adds personalization and social interaction to the mobile event discovery and ticket purchasing. Currently available for only the San Francisco area, users can receive notifications for when their favorite artists are in the vicinity, and receive recommendations based on their music library.

Computer peripheral manufacturer Logitech introduced a new case option for the iPhone 5 and 5s today, dubbed the Case+. The Case+ system works on a magnetic, modular design to bring options like a tilting mount and a battery pack to easy, everyday use for consumers.
Wello smartphone case tracks blood pressure, ECG, heart rate
Azoi has entered the health tracker market, by announcing a fitness-tracking smartphone cover that works with both iOS and Android devices. Wello contains a number of sensors on the side and back that take a snapshot of the user's vital signs after a few seconds of being held, with the results transferred wirelessly over Bluetooth 4.0 LE and recorded in a companion app.
Griffin Technology's Merchant Case and Square Reader for iPhone facilitate business usage
Officially announced at this year's CES, Griffin Technology is now shipping its Merchant Case and Square Reader for the iPhone 5/5s/5c line. The Merchant case is custom-molded to secure the Square Reader in place, and eliminate excess strain on the iPhone's headphone jack when connected. The groove along the bottom aligns with the Square Reader, and allows credit cards to slide through smoothly. Its silicone construction protects the phone from drops and bumps, and an integrated slot located on the back of the case stores the Square Reader when not in use.
Moshi's Versa case features Bluetooth keyboard with sliding storage slot
Accessory maker Moshi yesterday launched its VersaKeyboard case for iPad Air, featuring an origami-style folding stand that includes a Bluetooth keyboard. The keyboard component to the case can be easily hidden away when not in use, due to its 'sliding' keyboard storage feature built into the back. Aimed to provide a versatile keyboard without adding bulk or a need for additional storage, the VersaKeyboard is 0.6-inches thick while being nearly full size -- about 80 percent of the size of a standard keyboard.
Case provides same functions as Smart Cover
Apple has introduced several new accessories for its new iPad Air and Retina iPad mini. The new Smart Case offers the same articulated screen protector as the existing Smart Cover, folding into a triangular shape for use as a tilted stand, however it also brings additional wraparound protection for the back of the tablet.
Hydra Series offers water protection for iPhone
Ballistic has launched its latest case for the iPhone, offering waterproofing for depths of up to seven feet. Dubbed the Hydra Series, the new case offers the same eight foot drop protection guarantee as other Ballistic cases. Other features include quick access port covers, a scratch-resistant screen protector, and waterproof meshing that allows sound to escape clearly from the case. The Hydra Series can be ordered online in a variety of colors from Ballistic's website for $80.

id America has announced the upcoming launch of a new iPhone 5 case inspired by the shape of a head gasket from a performance V8 engine. The Gasket V8 is built from aircraft aluminum and features a suede interior that can help prevent damage from bumps and scratches. Offered in Titanium Gray, Vintage Gold, Aluminum Silver, Rally Blue, Brilliant Red, and Forest Green, the case will become available for purchase on March 20th through id America's online store at a cost of $30.
Go Mobile being tested in Utah, Oregon
US Bank is commencing trials of its Go Mobile payments service for mobile phones. Available in Salt Lake City, Utah and Portland, Oregon, the bank will allow iPhone 4 and iPhone 4s owners to perform NFC payments, by encasing their phone with a specially created case with Near Field Communications chips embedded.

TiVo fall update includes changes to My Shows page
TiVo's fall update will feature updates for the To Do List and the My Shows page. A post on Twitter by vice president Margret Schmidt confirmed the update and also included screenshots showcasing some of the changes. While an official rollout date has not been set, TiVo is allowing some users to preview it early, via sign-ups to the Priority List.

Cover manufacturer iSkin has started production on four different ranges of iPhone 5 cases. The Fall 2012 Collection includes both soft and firm cases and a fairly wide array of construction materials, all of which take into account the extra size and differences that the iPhone 5 has compared to previous versions.
Upgrades of existing cases, military-grade protection offered
Following the unveiling by Apple of the iPhone 5 yesterday, case and accessory manufacturers have started to make products for the new phone. A number are opting to create cases with unique selling points, such as military-grade handset protection, with some designs appearing to be similar to cases for the iPhone 4 and 4s, albeit with obvious modifications for the new size and port placements.
Red Giant teams up with CrumplePop
Hex has launched a new iPhone 4/4S case that features a shielded internal storage compartment for an RFID-enabled card. The Hex Stealth Case offers protection for the back and sides of the device, and features raised corners that improve screen protection. RFID-enabled cards stored within the case can continue to be used for tap purchases without creating any cross-interference with the iPhone's antenna. The Hex Stealth case can be ordered online for $35 in both black and white models.
LunaTik developing new military grade iPhone 4/4S case
LunaTik has again taken its latest project to Kickstarter seeking crowd sourced funding for its latest project, TakTik. TakTik is a new military grade iPhone 4/4S case that incorporates a shockproof suspension system with a 9mm impact truss and what it calls a Ballastik Bezel. It also comes with the option of a custom-made Gorilla Glass lens protector for additional protection as the video below shows.
Griffin Technology aids medical professionals with new iPad case
Griffin Technology has launched a new iPad case tailored for patient care needs. The AirStrap Med is made from a combination of ABS and TPE plastics, with the two-piece frame sealing out moisture and fluids. It has push-through covered access to the sleep/wake and volume buttons, and a removable hand and shoulder strap on the back. Both are removable for easy cleaning. The case fits the iPad 2 and current-generation iPad. The AirStrap med is available now for $90.
DODOcase celebrates Golden Gate Bridge anniversary
Accessory maker Crimson USA has announced the expansion of its Aluminum Frame Case collection for the iPhone 4/4S. Using a new painting process, the AFC can now be coated in a shiny, high-gloss finish. The first new color to be released will be white, however, new colors are expected to follow in the coming weeks. Available online through Crimson's website, the white Aluminum Frame Case is being offered for $60. Other color options range from $40 up to $70.
150 percent of stock battery life, MILSPEC tested
Mophie announced its largest battery case compatible with the iPhone 4 and 4S -- the Juice Pack Pro. The case has been tested against military specification MIL-STD 810G, and boasts a 2,500 mAh capacity lithium-ion polymer battery. The polycarbonate and silicone case increases the dimensions of the iPhone to 5.26 inches long, 2.78 inches wide, and 1.02 inches thick -- more than three times as thick as a stock iPhone 4. All models of iPhone 4 and 4S on any carrier are compatible with the case.
Chargers for iPhone, iPad, mini-USB devices
Accessory maker Hammacher Schlemmer is currently shipping an oxford woven cloth business case. An included 6000 mAh lithium-ion battery can charge an iPhone up to three times before requiring a 3.5-hour charge itself.
Kickstarter project can also include speakers
On the heels of a similar-looking Japanese keyboard case for the iPad 2, a new Kickstarter project aims to introduce a high-grade aluminum-based Bluetooth case called Brydge that when paired with an iPad closely resembles the body, thickness and weight of a MacBook Air. The main selling point of the Brydge is the unibody aluminum style (as opposed to the metal-painted plastic of the Japanese NotebookCase), along with a "click-in" hinge that allows both a wide range of positioning options and secure carrying.
Complements the Apple Smart Cover
Accessory maker SwitchEasy has announced an updated CoverBuddy, a back-cover complement to the Apple Smart Cover for the iPad. The unit is a shock-proof case made out of polycarbonate available in matching colors to the Apple Smart Cover. The colored models feature a rubber coating, while the clear model offers a scratch-resistant UV coating for better durability. The case is custom-designed to fit both the thinner 2011 iPad as well as the newer 2012 iPad.
FreedomPop rumored to have hotspot case plans
More details have emerged about Skype founder Niklas Zennstrom’s latest project FreedomPop. It’s stated goal has been to bring ‘free wireless broadband’ to consumers by using a WiMax-based freemium service. While details had been sketchy, a ‘high-level’ source has revealed that the service will be offered integrated as a Wi-Fi hotspot in an iPhone 4/4S case.

Makers of the Arc hand-held stabilizer case and arm for the iPhone, iSteady Shot has now added the M-27 action camera mount to its lineup. Featuring aircraft-grade aluminum, hand grips or tripod mounts and a 37mm wide-angle lens, the M-27 is intended to give the iPhone 4 or 4S a further nudge up the scale towards the quality of a dedicated wide-angle camera or camcorder.
Security lock for iPad 2
StudioProper has released a new iPad stand designed for in-car use. The Wallee Headrest can be attached to any car seat and positioned either on the back of a headrest or in a central position between the front seats. Support is also offered for holding the device in both portrait and landscape orientations. The Wallee Headrest can be purchased through StudioProper's online store for $40 with free shipping around the world.
Allows use of primary functions while in case
At CES yesterday, accessory maker iLuv unveiled a portable stereo speaker case for the iPhone and other compatible smartphones called the Smashbox Pro. The case provides rugged full protection, stereo sound and access to the primary features of the phone without taking it out of the case. Enhanced with its own power (in the form of two AA batteries), the case functions as a speaker for both music and phone conversations (that utilizes the built-in microphone).
InnoPocket outs HexaPose UStand
HEX, a division of August Accessories, has announced the launch of a new wallet case designed for the iPhone 4. The Code wallet is made of genuine leather and features a custom phone bed for the iPhone 4, along with three card slots and a protective flap. Each case is fastened with an elastic strap and measures one half inch thick with an iPhone secured. Three colour options are being offered including black, white, and British tan. The Code wallet retails for $50 and can currently be purchased through the company's online store, while Apple.com will begin offering the product on August 30th.
Productivity station and protective case
A pivoting stand reminiscent of the current iMac design and a case that goes beyond Apple's Smart Cover for the iPad are two of the latest accessories available from two popular accessory makers. Thought Out Company's Stabile Pro is a more advanced version of their original iPad stand, while Griffin's IntelliCase features the company's own take on Apple's iPad 2 case while adding additional protection for the back of the device.
Bottom portion separates for docking
Carrying case maker Booq have announced a new case for the iPad 2 that offers both the protection of a full case while allowing users to dock their devices. Called the Viper Slider, the polycarbonate case features a non-scratch fabric inner lining and durable leatherette outside, with openings that allow for the full functionality of the iPad. The bottom quarter of the case can be easily slid off to allow the iPad to sit in almost any docking station.
Slim case teams with free app for remote control
A company called Mashed Pixel is now shipping a case for the iPhone 4 called the SURC that features a built-in infrared unit that can be paired with a free app from the company that turns the iPhone 4 in an easy-to-use universal learning remote control that not only controls most infrared-enabled appliances and devices, but learns how to control the devices from the user's existing remotes, saving valuable "training" time.
IK Multimedia mount adds to microphone stand
Two manufacturers have brought out their latest offerings for (respectively) the iPad and the iPhone. G-Form has launched its next-generation Extreme Sleeve 2 for iPad, a super-touch case that offers distinguished protection from drops or shocks. Meanwhile, IK Multimedia has announced its new iPhone mount for musicians, the iKlip Mini, which mounts any iPhone or iPod touch on a microphone stand.

Ivy Skin has released a military-grade iPhone 4 case, the Quattro4 Wrangler. The case combines a hard resin exterior, and uses polycarbonate, aluminum and TPU with shock-absorbent material as an inner liner. The iPhone's headphone plug and on-off switch are covered with moisture resistant seals. The volume control buttons are also covered, and the dock connector is covered by a snap open door when not charging. The case uses a polarized front face touch-through grill to protect the iPhone screen.

Sena Cases has launched their own entry into the increasingly-crowded case-that-doubles-as-a-bluetooth-keyboard for the iPad and iPad 2, made from genuine European leather in a variety of colors, and featuring an above-average built quality and silicon-based noiseless keyboard, perfect for meetings or class note-taking. The HandStand2, an ergonomically-designed case for the iPad 2, is now available for ordering. The case, made from recycled materials, features a strap that fits over the hand of the wearer, making the iPad 2 an extension of the arm, enabling easy carrying and one-handed use for extended periods. The case itself rotates 360 degrees as well as provides protection to the iPad, and when not worn rests at a slight incline for typing or viewing use on a flat surface.
High-gloss polycarbonate case offers UV coating
SwitchEasy has launched a lightweight hardcase for the iPad 2, the SwitchEasy Nude for iPad 2. The ultra-thin polycarbonate snap-on case features a UV-resistant glossy coating, easy access to buttons and comes in multiple colors. The unit ships with a pair of fold-out stands -- one white, one black -- jack and dock protectors and other accessories.

Case maker Otterbox will officially launch its Defender series case for the iPad 2 on Friday, offering the same impact-absorbing protection found in the original Defender case with 20 percent less weight to match the iPad 2's lighter, thinner specifications.
Casing offers repeated protection against impact
As proof that their new Extreme Sleeve for laptop computers is rugged and dependable, athletic gear company G-Form dropped a 13-inch MacBook Pro from a 20-foot balcony to demonstrate its durability. The case is designed for notebook "road warriors" who carry their laptop everywhere with them, and thus offers maximum protection against the drops, dings and other shocks that mobile computers are subjected to on a routine basis -- but can also guard the computer in case of a disastrous event.

MountMe has announced an all-in-one carrying and mounting case, Freedom for iPad 2. It is geared for a number of surfaces, with a mounting bracket that can be adapted with suction cups or straps. It can be screw-mounted to walls, glass-mounted via the suction cups and strap-mounted on a car headrest or visor. The mounting bracket also can act as a kickstand when going mobile. The case can be removed from the bracket via a quick release mechanism for taking the iPad from a permanent mount, without removing the tablet from its protective case.
Protects the back of the iPad 2 without hiding it
Accessory maker AViiQ has released their ">Smart Case for iPad 2, a protective back snap-on anodized aluminum case that leaves cutouts for the buttons, cameras, ports and spine of the iPad 2, allowing Apple's own Smart Cover to complement it as the front protector. AViiQ's Smart Case comes in a variety of colors, but despite being made of metal does not interfere with any wireless functionality or connectivity.
New design was generated on Kickstarter site
Tangilsing has launched a hand-grip case for the iPad, the Grabbit. Developed via the Kickstarter initiative, which finances new ideas in design, the case has a rotatable leather hand-strap secured to the back for carrying the iPad securely with one hand. The strap is adjustable and available in brown or black leather, while the thermoplastic hardcase protects the back and corners of the iPad. The case ships with a removable screen cover for protecting the iPad display while in transit. The iPad's docking port is still accessible when in use, but the rest of its surfaces are fully protected.
Protective sleeve can be used from either end
Case maker SwitchEasy has launched its new Duo protective sleeve, using genuine leather for the exterior with a rich microfiber interior lining that helps clean the iPhone as its inserted. It is available in three colors -- black, white or tan -- and features a dual "push and slide" function that lets users remove the iPhone from either the top or the bottom of the case (a discreet inner safety strap can be used to secure the iPhone when inserted from the other end).
