Motorola puts cash in Catch Media for media locker
Motorola signaled some of its intentions for its Android devices on Thursday with an investment in Catch Media. The company is best known for its digital rights locker system, Play Anywhere, which gives users a way to access music, videos and other content from cloud storage while proving they own it and paying providers if needed. Specific plans and the investment total weren't detailed, but Motorola would act as a "catalyst" for Catch's services, the two said.

iTunes Rewind resurfaces with iPad in mind
Apple is talking to movie studios about letting iTunes customers stream full-length features, a leak Tuesday evening suggests. Two anonymous sources aware of the negotiations say it would echo similar discussions for music and TV that would take iTunes away from its dependence on movie downloads and to a locker that would simply hold what the user owns and stream it accordingly. The move would likely be targeted at the iPad and notebooks, where free storage is at a premium.

Google may buy Catch to have iTunes cloud rival
Google may be embarking on a company buyout to counter Apple's buyout of Lala, a rumor argues today. The search firm is believed to be considering a buyout of Catch Media, a startup focused on routing e-books and media across multiple devices and services. It has deals with all four major music labels that would let users keep access.
