Pogoplug goes software-based with OneView
Cloud Engines adapted its strategy for the Pogoplug Wednesday with a new software-based version of its remote storage feature. Its app lets Mac and Windows user share the contents of their systems to nearly anywhere online over the web without needing a Pogoplug drive. A new trick for the category, though, is OneView: the method lets users pool their storage from multiple devices and see it as one, consistent library with no duplicates.

PogoPlug Pro gets a new color, Wi-Fi, same price
Cloud Engines' ever-evolving PogoPlug network drive sharing device is now available in a new version, as the PogoPlug Pro. It differentiates from the standard version by its unique black case and a built-in 802.11n Wi-Fi radio. The Linux-powered box can stream content to a PS3 or Xbox 360 as well as other devices while still connecting external hard drives to the Internet.

PogoPlug ships products, outs firmware update
Cloud Engines, maker of the PogoPlug NAS adapter, announced on Tuesday that it has posted a promised software update that will let users print from their iPads, iPhones, Android smartphones or other Internet connected devices from anywhere they can get an Internet connection. At the same time, the company said that its PogoPlug Biz and the Wi-Fi Adapter are both shipping. The update should be delivered to all users before week's end.

PogoPlug Wireless Adapter arrives
CloudEngines this morning added a simple Wi-Fi adapter to extend the usefulness of a PogoPlug. The Wireless Adapter slips into a free USB port on the device and gives either the regular model or the PogoPlug Biz 802.11n networking to put its storage online without having to connect over Ethernet. Owners can fine-tune its settings through the same web interface they would use for the networked storage enabler.

Pogoplug Biz for small businesses to cost $299
Cloud Engines has announced a new network drive sharing device, the Pogoplug Biz. As the name implies, the device differs from the original by catering to small businesses, with the option of using their own domain names, customizing the user interface and e-mail templates. The Pogoplug Biz can connect up to four external hard drives to the Internet, and keeps track of the visits, streams and downloads of hosted files.
