RIM may axe Colt and Milan as chances slim
RIM may have slashed two out of the three BlackBerry 10 phones it was planning to launch this year, a rumor emerging Thursday said. The Colt and Milan were said by BGR to have been dropped, leaving just the touch-only London. The Milan may not have even been a BB10 phone, instead being a BlackBerry 7 QWERTY slider that carriers didn't want given how similar it would have been to the Torch 9810.

BlackBerry London rumored a Colt replacement
RIM's still unconfirmed BlackBerry London may actually be a replacement for a cancelled model, a new rumorclaimed Monday. Supposedly, BGR heard, the all-touch phone was replacing the Colt, which looked more like the BlackBerry PlayBook. Why the Colt had been dropped hadn't been given out.

First BBX phone to match PlayBook display ratios
RIM's Developer Relations VP Alec Saunders revealed Wednesday that the first phone based on BBX will have many of the features of the fully updated BlackBerry PlayBook when it's ready. He explained to PCMag that the phone will have everything that PlayBook 2.0 will have, including BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) push support, native e-mail, and other additions promised since before the PlayBook even shipped in April.

BlackBerry Colt with BBX may be very minimal
New rumors from the historically reliable N4BB may have given clues as to the ultimate design of the first BBX phone, the BlackBerry Colt. Now mocked up for reference, the phone is now believed to be all-touch on the front, much like the PlayBook that will share its OS in time. As such, all the control will come from swiping around the bezel.

Jefferies analyst sees RIM too fast on BBerry Colt
RIM's self-proclaimed "superphone" based on its new QNX platform, unofficially known as the BlackBerry Colt, might be pushed too quickly into the market. Based on "checks," Jefferies & Co. analyst Peter Misek believed on Friday that the Colt was "being rushed' with no BlackBerry Enterprise Server or possibly BlackBerry Internet Service support. The company might be following a classic technology company practice of speeding up its timing solely to have a device to show for CES in January, something that Misek saw as a potentially fatal mistake.

PlayBook at last due for native messaging in month
RIM may not wait for an all-encompassing update to give the PlayBook the features it promised before launch. Sources mentioned Wednesday that the update for native e-mail, BlackBerry Messenger, and other features would arrive sometime in September. The Android app wrapper, once promised for the summer, now wouldn't come until sometime "later on in the year," Bloomberg's source said.
