Vertu ships Constellation with AMOLED display
Luxury handset maker Vertu has just introduced its latest and most advanced smartphone with the Constellation. For one, it gets a modern AMOLED touchscreen sized at 3.5 inches and, as is typical of the brand, is coated in a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. On the rear, users will find black alligator skin.

Seagate Pulsar 2 SSD packs 800GB, MLC in pro shape
Seagate on Tuesday morning put out four pro drives targeted at both enterprise users and serious users, including a near record-setting SSD. The Pulsar.2 is billed as the first SSD using multi-level cell (MLC) in business and uses the denser storage to boost capacity, but without reducing its lifespan. It can hold as much as 800GB in its 2.5-inch form but can take as many as 15 petabytes of writes, or more than five years if its drive were completely rewritten 10 times every day.

Seagate intros 1TB Constellation.2 hard drives
Seagate has just introduced its second-generation Constellation.2 family of enterprise hard drives with a 2.5-inch form factor. Made for use in data centers, they now reach up to 1TB and offer highest capacity in their size and have the lowest power consumption in the class. The choice of interface is equally diverse with either a 6Gbps SAS or same-speed SATA connection.

HDD should automatically work with Snow Leopard
A Seagate representative has provided Electronista with a few additional details regarding Mac compatibility for the upcoming 3TB Constellation hard drive. In-house testing reportedly showed 3TB of usable space on Snow Leopard, indicating that Mac users should be able to utilize the full capacity of the drive without any special configurations or software updates.

Seagate Constellation 3TB confirmed late 2010
Seagate today confirmed that it's making a 3TB hard drive for late this year. Spokeswoman Barbara Craig didn't provide many details to Thinq but explained that the Constellation disk would need a 64-bit OS that supports long logical block addressing (long LBA) to read the entire contents. Older 32-bit platforms may not see more than 2.1TB due to the original LBA, and Windows XP may not even see 1GB of space.

Seagate working on new enterprise hard drives?
Storage media maker Seagate is said to be working on a 3TB Constellation ES disk drive that is expected to arrive in stores later this year, according to unnamed sources speaking to TheRegister. The enterprise-class drive would have a 6GBps SAS interface and have the largest capacity from any of its kind in Seagate's range. The largest current Constellation ES is a 2TB, 7,200RPM unit.

Seagate Cheetah, Savvio SED ship
Seagate this morning promised a new level of security for work-oriented hard drives by shipping its first Self-Encrypted Drives (SED). The Cheetah 15K.7, Constellation, Savvio 10K.3 and Savvio 15K.2 all automatically protect data that isn't immediately being used. They all have an encryption engine that processes information on the fly but without slowing down the drives' actual speed.
