Google held its opening keynote for its I/O conference, where it showed its new WebM open web video codec, examples of tablet-like HTML5 code and the Chrome Web App Store. Google puts 23m cash into set-top app firm
Google today helped invest $23 million into Invidi Technologies in a possible clue as to its development of Google TV. The move also brings a product manager for Google's TV and YouTube ads on to Invidi's board of directors and gives Google influence over the startup firm, which makes set-top software designed to intelligently push ads to TV viewers. It similarly helps streamline Internet-based and on-demand services.

Sony TVs to use 'Dragonpoint' Android, Atom CPU
Sony's planned Google TVs will show their faces next month, a leak said Thursday. Sets and other "home entertainment devices" based on the platform are expected to show at Google's I/O conference, which starts May 19th. They will use Android but should run on a customized version codenamed "Dragonpoint," according to the multiple sources.
