PS3 in red carries more storage, gear

Previously limited to Japan, Sony's red PlayStation 3 has made a rare leap to the UK. The Scarlet Red model comes in its namesake deep hue with a DualShock 3 gamepad to match. It sits at the high end of Sony's lineup with not just a 320GB hard drive but a second gamepad to get users started on two-player games.

Sony intros DualShock 3 charging dock for PS3

Sony addressed one of the more longstanding demands from gamers today with a new addition to its PS3 accessories. The DualShock 3 Charging Station can power up two DualShock 3 or Sixaxis controllers without having to plug into an actively running PS3. Sony didn't say how quickly the controllers would charge, but cradling the gamepads needs an adapter for each gamepad, one of which is included in the box.

Vudu begins its version 2.0...

LG devices next, others after January

Vudu has begun rolling out its new version 2.0 User Interface for its online streaming movie rental service. The first device to receive the update is the Sony PlayStation 3, which only a month ago began offering the Vudu service to its users. Also added to the update for PS3 users is the ability to now use the Move controller in addition to the DualShock 3 controller as a remote.

Sony registers Arc domain, intros Torne TV tuner

An earlier report about Sony calling its PS3 Motion Controller the Arc has received more confirmation thanks to a recent report. This evidence is courtesy of a new domain registered by Sony, PlayStationArc.com. The device, due for a fall release date, will be a wand-like controller that will track free-air movement to interact with video games and is rumored to ship with every PS3 system alongside a traditional DualShock game pad.

Sony PS3 160GB

Sony on mid-Wednesday revealed a new 160GB version of the PlayStation 3. The new version holds twice as much as the 80GB PS3 that now serves as the low-end model, and was built partly to hold extra content from the just-opened PlayStation video store. The console still has the same expansion as the newer 80GB model, however, and is limited to two USB ports as well as backwards compatibility only for original PlayStation games. Wi-Fi and a DualShock 3 gamepad carry over from the other revised model.
