Ectaco Jetbook Color due with lots of software
Ectaco will ship its first color e-book reader in mid-January, and the device is now ready for pre-order. The Jetbook Color sports a 9.7-inch, 1600x1200 Triton Color E Ink touchscreen and a Wi-Fi connection. It's actually a re-brand of China's Hanvon reader that's available in Eastern Europe.
jetBook Lite debuts at Frankfurt Book Fair
Ectaco has announced its second eBook reader at the Frankfurt Book Fair in New York, labeled jetBook Lite. The portable device weighs 7.5 ounces and features a 5-inch transflective monochrome display manufactured by Toshiba. Internal memory provides just 100MB of storage, while an SD card slot allows for expansion. The eBook reader also supports a variety of different language options such as English, German, Spanish, Russian, and Polish.
ECTACO jetBook Reader
Relative newcomer ECTACO became the latest to join the slowly growing field of e-book readers with the jetBook. The handheld uses a 5-inch e-paper display to supply grayscale books and photos without the eyestrain that normally accompanies LCDs. Its primary change from the formula of its rivals is language support: the jetBook not only supports Russian, Spanish, and multiple other languages natively but comes shipped with translation dictionaries to make foreign books readable without hunting down native versions or loading extra software.
