Canon 5D Mk III firmware to add HDMI video, AF changes

Uncompressed HDMI video allows for external recording

Canon has confirmed it will be releasing a new firmware for its EOS 5D Mark III in the spring. The biggest update for the camera will be in allowing videographers to record uncompressed high-definition video from the HDMI port to an external recording device. The uncompressed YcbCr 4:2:2, 8-bit output will allow users to edit the resulting footage with the most minimal degredation possible.
