23.6-inch 3D capable with multitouch, all-in-one
The ASUS 3D Vision capable Eee Top ET2400XVT with touchscreen is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Unlike many Eee branded products, this model is highly specified. It ships with an Intel Core i7-740QM clocked at 1.73Ghz, 8GB DDR3 RAM and is fitted with NVIDIA’s NV GTX 460M 3D with 1.5GB graphics. The display is capable of rendering 3D images in 1080p, while also supporting multitouch input.

Hitachi-LG HyDrive
Hitachi-LG started its week at Computex with its unusual HyDrive. The storage combines a thin, slot-loading Blu-ray combo drive with a 32GB or 64GB solid-state drive. Its creator sees it as a way of creating netbooks, tablets and ultraportables that can fit an optical drive without needing a second drive bay.

ASUS Eee Top to get next-gen GPU and Pine Trail
ASUS is planning a major redesign of the Eee Top that will make it one of the first systems to use NVIDIA's Ion 2 chipset. A leak of the Eee Top ET2010PNT shows that the new all-in-one will use the new graphics, which will also go under the GeForce G310 name. Like some rumors suggest, it would actually be a dedicated part with its own 512MB of memory and 16 visual processing cores.

ASUS hoping to preempt a rumored device
ASUS is in the early stages of developing a tablet device partly in response to Apple's rumored tablet, a supposed leak claimed Thursday. To be called the Eee Pad, it would actually be significantly smaller than the as yet unconfirmed Apple device and would have a screen between just 4 inches and 7 inches and fit into the MID category. However, it would have some full tablet computing functions and would be "inspired" by its Apple counterpart, DigiTimes claims.

ASUS Eee Top ET20 and ET22
ASUS today catered to the US with three new Eee Top all-in-ones. The regular ET2002 and touchscreen ET2002T are the first of the systems to use NVIDIA's Ion hybrid graphics and system controller and consequently have much better graphics performance than Intel's own parts without the cost of a dedicated chipset. Both 20-inch units also break out of nettop limits with dual-core 1.6GHz Atom processors, 2GB of RAM, 320GB hard drives and DVD burners in addition to the usual 802.11n Wi-Fi and webcams.

MSI Wind Netons coming
Desktop and notebook computer maker MSI recently unveiled a new range of small-footprint all-in-one PCs, called the Wind Neton, in China. The Wind Neton range should compete against the ASUS Eee Top as well as the iMac and comprises the 22-inch M22, 18.5-inch M19 and 15.6-inch M16. Processing power will come from Intel's Atom CPU, with a dual-core 1.6GHz Atom 330 in some models. Any of the three nettops will be available with touchscreen functionality for the M16 and M19's 1366x768 screen or the M22's 1920x1080 display. In a rare move for Atom-based systems, the M22 also has an optional Blu-ray drive.

ASUS intros Eee Tops
ASUS has recently posted up official product pages of its upcoming Eee Top-series desktop PCs, the ET1602 and ET1603. The main difference between the two is the latter's use of an ATI Mobility Radeon HD3450 graphics card instead of the former's onboard Intel chipset paired with ASUS' Splendid Video Intelligence Technology for video processing. Aside from this, both share a 15.6-inch LCD touchscreen with a 16:9 aspect ratio, a 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor and 1GB of RAM. Windows XP will be pre-loaded onto the 160GB hard disk drive, along with Eee Cinema, ASUS' multimedia center software. Wireless network access comes via an 802.11n Wi-Fi module.

Second-gen Eee Top details
The next version of the previously-announced ASUS Eee Top desktop PC will sport battery-powered portability and have wireless accessories, says a Friday report. Not only will the second-gen Eee Top have a wireless keyboard and mouse, it will also sport an internal battery, enabling its use as a portable media center around the house or beyond its walls.
