Acer confirms two new Ethos notebooks for the US
The recently introduced Acer Ethos notebooks have now been confirmed for the US market. The pair is unique as the multi-touch pad is removable and doubles as a multimedia remote, complete with LED-backlit controls. Users can thus use the notebook as a source for a high-definition movie or home video plugged into their HDTV and control it like a Blu-ray player with the touchpad.

Acer Ethos notebooks meant for multimedia use
Computer maker Acer has recently shown off two new notebooks for multimedia users in its Ethos line with the 5951G and 8951G. They offer a unique touch in a detachable touchpad that doubles as a multimedia remote control. The 5951G has a 15.6-inch screen and gets a resolution of 1366x768.

Acer designer notebooks come Stateside
Acer today brought its 2010 high-end notebook designs to the US. The 18.4-inch Aspire 8943G carries the PC builder's new Ethos look with a minimal aluminum shell, a chiclet keyboard and a display panel that runs edge-to-edge. As a desktop replacement, it has five speakers plus a subwoofer, and a Blu-ray drive turns it into a home theater.

Acer has major event in late may but no Chrome OS
Talk of Acer launching Chrome OS devices at Computex isn't accurate, a countering claim said today. The company will reportedly have an event on May 25th, but neither this, Computex nor other nearby events would include Google's new desktop OS. What would appear at the event wasn't mentioned by the Engadget sources.
