Facebook board member investor in FiftyThree
Facebook may be formally challenged for the use of the word "Paper" as an app name. FiftyThree, the developers of the iPad drawing app Paper has requested Facebook change the name of its latest magazine-style app, which is using the same name. To reinforce the request, FiftyThree has filed with the United States Patent and Trade Office for a trademark on the name, with a filing of January 30, the same day as the Facebook launch.
FiftyThree studios announces Pencil stylus
FiftyThree, the studio behind popular iPad sketching app Paper, have announced the availability of a new stylus the iPad. Dubbed "Pencil," the stylus mimics the look of its namesake, with a hardwood exterior molded to look like a architect's pencil. The new device will pair with FiftyThree's existing app, enabling a number of previously unavailable features for Paper.
Paper for iPad gets record interest early on
Fiftythree sent word late Wednesday that its Paper app for the iPad (App Store) has crossed the 1.5 million download mark in its first two weeks. The same interval saw a total of seven million pages created at the same time, suggesting that every user made at least one page. It's not clear how many had paid for extra drawing tools beyond what's free.
