Asus updates Fonepad, MeMO Pad range with 64-bit Intel Atom processors

MeMO Pad 8 claimed to be lightest 8-inch tablet with LTE

At the same time as launching 4K notebooks and monitors, as well as more additions to its Transformer device range, Asus revealed a new collection of Fonepad and MeMO Pad tablets. The new Fonepad 8, MeMO Pad 7, and MeMO Pad 8 all use quad-core Intel Atom 64-bit mobile processors, with the former two tablets clocked at 1.8GHz, and the MeMO Pad at 2.3GHz.

Transformer Pad, Transformer Book sees upgrades, name changes

Asus has used IFA to relaunch a number of devices it revealed earlier this year under new names, as well as introducing upgraded versions of existing devices. The Zenbook Infinity, now named the Zenbook UX301, was shown at the same time as a Transformer Book with Haswell, a new Transformer Pad, and other Android devices.

Asus FonePad FHD Note takes on Galaxy Note with Intel Atom inside

Foregoing the customary ‘ARMdroid’ combination, Asus has incorporated 1.6GHz a dual-core Intel Atom (Z260) into its new 6-inch FonePad Note. Squarely aimed at Samsung’s popular 5.3-inch Galaxy Note 2 line (rumored to go 6-inches for the Galaxy Note 3), the FonePad Note also includes a stylus for handwritten input. Although running Android, Asus has not yet confirmed which iteration of ‘Jelly Bean’ that it is shipping with.

Phone-tablet gains boost to processor, internal storage

Asus is making a number of changes to its Fonepad, increasing a number of core specifications for customers in Taiwan. The 7-inch phone-tablet, seen by Electronista earlier this year at Mobile World Congress, will receive a processor upgrade from the current 1.2GHz Intel Atom Z2420 to the faster 1.6GHz Z2460, also from Intel.

Asus intros Atom-powered phone/tablet hybrid

Confirming recent rumors, Asus has unveiled a new seven-inch tablet, the Fonepad, that is powered by Intel's Lexington Atom processor. Consistent with its name, the Fonepad is a tablet but doubles as a smartphone with 3G voice-calling functionality. We met with Asus at Mobile World Congress to check out the hybrid device and see how it performs as a tablet and as a phone.
