Forerummer 910XT measures swim, run, bike metrics
Garmin just introduced the Forerunner 910XT multisport watch. The higher-end tracker has a built-in GPS sensor and provides detailed swim metrics as well as distance, speed, pace, elevation, and heart rate for running and cycling. It is waterproof up to 50 meters deep (164 feet). The barometric altimeter also provides more accurate elevation data.

Garmin Forerunner 610 adds touch to GPS running
Garmin stepped up the interface for its GPS watches on Tuesday through the new Forerunner 610. The addition gives it a more intuitive control scheme that lets runners plot their direction along with starting training routines. The surface is grayscale to save battery life and is also weatherproof, making it safe to use not just in rain but after a sweat-inducing run.

Tracking features designed for runners
Garmin has added two models to its Forerunner line of GPS watches for runners, the Forerunner 410 and Forerunner 210. The Forerunner 410 introduces an all-weather enhanced touch bezel to make it easier to select features while running and allows users to customize up to three screens of information to track workouts. The Forerunner 410 also provides a wireless connection with an included USB dongle and automatically uploads data when in range of the user's PC.

Garmin announces simplest Forerunner 110
Garmin on Monday has expanded its Forerunner lineup of fitness GPS watches with the Forerunner 110. When it ships, the Forerunner 110 will be the simplest and thinnest in the range; it should give runners key information without a complicated setup. Athletes should only have to press a start button to begin tracking, the company said.

Garmin fitness watches
Garmin on Thursday announced the upcoming release of a pair of new fitness watches, including the Forerunner 310XT and Forerunner 405CX. The former is waterproof down to 50 meters (164 feet) and thus meant for water sports as well as running and cycling and will be packaged together with a waterproof heart rate monitor as well as in a stand-alone version. Compared to the current Forerunner 305 that it's based on, the new watch has improved battery life, now rated at 20 hours, as well as a more comfortable design.

New Garmin GPS systems
Garmin recently unveiled its Colorado series of handheld GPS units, and the Forerunner 405 wrist-worn GPS device, as well as the super-sized Nuvi 5000 for use in large vehicles. The Colorado 400t uses a 3-inch color screen to display three-dimensional topographic maps, and is pre-loaded with a complete map covering the US. Tracks, waypoints, and geocaches can be wirelessly transferred with other units, and the device’s “Rock n Roller” thumbwheel makes the device easy to navigate. Garmin will show the new lineup at CES 2008, and although a release date was not mentioned, the Colorado 400 series devices sell for $600.
