Wi-Fi models sold at first, 3G, 4G LTE versions in the future

Samsung has revealed it will be shipping the 2014 edition of its Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet in the United States next month. The updated large-screened tablet will be available to pre-order from midnight EST on September 27th, ahead of its October 10th shipping date, and though it will be available in 3G and 4G LTE versions in the future, only the Wi-Fi models will be going on sale at first.

New tablet available in 3G, LTE models, sports 4x pixel density of previous model

At the IFA trade show, Samsung today showed the refreshed Galaxy Note 10.1, 2014 edition tablet. The new device boasts a WQXGA LCD display running at 2560x1600 resolution in a 10-inch form factor, with a 1.9 GHZ eight-core processor in the 3G/WiFi version, or a 2.3GHz quad-core in the LTE model, with 3GB RAM. Also, the newest addition to the lineup brings Samsung's Knox security suite to the device.

The update is being rolled out as an over-the-air download, and it enables a number of user interface and functionality changes. The update also fixes an exploit that renders Exynos 4-based processors vulnerable to malicious apps.

Modular design, clips, Phillips screws welcomed by iFixit

A teardown of the recently-released Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 shows the tablet to be fairly easy to repair. The iFixit team notes that the process is relatively simple compared to the iPad, since Samsung has opted to use Phillips screws and a number of clips and connectors. The Note 10.1 gets a repairability score of 8 out of 10, versus 2 for the iPad.

NYC event showcases multitasking, S Pen apps

Samsung has officially launched the Galaxy Note 10.1, with the US version going on sale tomorrow. At an event in New York City, company executives were joined by fashion designer Zac Posen and director Baz Luhrmann to show off the tablet, which unlike the secrecy surrounding the Samsung Galaxy S III announcement earlier this year, was known about well in advance. The event also revealed that the original Galaxy Note, released nine months ago, has sold over 10 million units worldwide.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 finally reaches the market

The long overdue Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 is now official and due for a global rollout this month. First unveiled at Mobile World Congress back in February, the version that will hit store shelves is substantially reworked from what could be best described as an early prototype by comparison with the shipping model. The Galaxy Note 10.1 shown at CES did not have a slot for an S Pen, and only ran a dual-core processor. The Galaxy Note 10.1 that goes on sale this month will be powered by Samsung's quad-core Exynos 4112, matched with 2GB of RAM and comes with an integrated S Pen slot.

A 30-second commercial for the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 has appeared online. Step Management, a modeling agency, posted the video on YouTube yesterday showing the Note 10.1 being used in a business environment . Despite it seeming to be a complete advertisement or trailer for the Note 10.1, it does not give a clue as to the release date, final specifications, or eventual price for the tablet.

Galaxy Note 10.1 surfaces in pebble blue

A video (embedded below) has surfaced showing the forthcoming Galaxy Tab 10.1 reboot. It appears to verify all of the key specification revisions that have been rumored following its original unveiling at Mobile World Congress in February. The revamped Galaxy Note 10.1 will also come in the troublesome pebble blue color that Samsung is using on the new Galaxy S III.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 case redesigned

The forthcoming, and heavily re-engineered, Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 has had its case redesigned to accommodate the S Pen. Although the smaller Galaxy Note 5.3 has a slot for the S Pen, it took observers by surprise at Mobile World Congress in February when Samsung first revealed the device without an in-built location to stow it. Since its Barcelona unveiling, Samsung has completely revamped the Note 10.1 and has now also shoehorned the same 1.4GHz Exynos 4412 quad-core processor from the Galaxy S III into the device.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 set for quad-core CPU

Suggestions that Samsung may have delayed the launch of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in order to leapfrog the dual-core (quad GPU) A5X processor in the new iPad with a quad-core processor have gained momentum with leaked benchmarks spotted. The South Korean company had revealed a version of the forthcoming Galaxy Note 10.1 at the Mobile World Congress in February running the same dual-core processor as its 5.3-inch Galaxy Note stable mate. The leaked benchmarks show a Samsung tablet with a 1280x752 resolution running the 1.4GHz Exynos 4412 quad-core processor paired with Mali-604T graphics.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 getting revised

After debuting a larger 10.1-inch version of its popular Galaxy Note 5.3 at Mobile World Congress, Samsung is said to be revising the product ahead of its launch. The revisions and delayed release dovetails with an earlier rumor that Samsung could be aiming to leapfrog the new iPad by offering a fully quad-core tablet before Apple does. Currently, the new iPad runs an Apple-designed A5X SoC which matches a dual-core ARM Cortex A9 with quad-core graphics provided by PowerVR’s SGX543MP4.

Samsung has expanded its Galaxy Note lineup to include a 10.1-inch tablet. The Note 10.1 integrates a 1280x800 display that appears to match the Galaxy Tab 10.1 panel, though the new model jumps from a 1GHz chip to a 1.4GHz dual-core processor to match the five-inch Note.
