LG releases Optimus Vu sequel just six month after the original
LG has officially launched the Optimus Vu 2, its second take on the ‘phablet’ category made popular by Samsung's original Galaxy Note. The sequel has arrived in quick succession to the original, which was only went on sale in South Korea six months ago. The updated 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor and RAM bump to 2GB appears timed so that the Vu 2 can better challenge Samsung’s recently unveiled Galaxy Note 2.

Galaxy Note II may stay on Android 4.0 for release
Unconfirmed information regarding Android 4.1 upgrades for Samsung's Galaxy line has surfaced, fueling speculation of possible release dates. Sources of Sam Mobile claim that initial firmware for the Galaxy S III had passed testing, enabling developers to focus on the public release. The handset is expected to receive the update by the end of the third quarter this year, pending final approval and any other unexpected delays.

Galaxy Note sequel confirmed for late August reveal
Samsung has confirmed that its Samsung Mobile Unpacked event just ahead of IFA on August 29 will be headlined by the launch of its Galaxy Note 5.3 sequel. "We plan to unveil the next Galaxy Note…in Berlin on August 29," a Samsung spokesman told Reuters. The revelation confirms rumors that surfaced in early July that Samsung was prepping a next-generation Galaxy Note following the success of the original.

Media notice could be new Galaxy Note
Samsung has sent out a notice to media outlets revealing that the company intends to unveil a new addition to its Galaxy line of devices in mid-August. According to BGR, the invite includes no details on the device. Instead, it only gives the date and time details for the unveiling. The press conference is scheduled for August 15 at 10:00 am EST.
