The smaller version of the expected Galaxy S IV is said to be released at some point in May, and though light on details relating to specifications, it should follow a similar pattern to the Mini variant of the Galaxy S III.

Samsung is to announce the Galaxy S IV on March 15, according to a new rumor providing seemingly more accurate information. The electronic giant will apparently unveil the follow-up to the Galaxy S III at one of its Unpacked events, the location of which is currently unknown. The report goes on to claim that Samsung will be putting the smartphone on sale in early April.

Samsung denies early Galaxy S IV release on Facebook

Despite continuing rumors that Samsung is preparing to launch the successor to its best-selling Galaxy S III smartphone, the Lebanese arm of the South Korean conglomerate denied that such a launch will happen in the near future. A post on the company's Facebook page appeared to refute rumors that the company would be releasing the Galaxy S IV early in 2013, instead appearing to signal May 2013 as the release date for Samsung's next flagship handset. Samsung Lebanon has since deleted the post, letting users know that "the info shared was done by mistake."

Rendered press image suggests move to software buttons

An image claimed to be the face of the rumored Samsung Galaxy S IV has appeared online. If confirmed to be true, the photograph shows Samsung as moving away from its physical home and navigational buttons, as used in the high-selling Galaxy S III, and instead shifting towards software-based versions. The thin bezel also suggests an edge-to-edge display similar to that of the Motorola Droid Razr M.

Teaser video promises 'something new'

Next month's Consumer Electronics Show may see the introduction of a new entry in Samsung's Galaxy line of Android-powered devices. That seems to be the takeaway from a new teaser video released by Samsung on Sunday, which doesn't reveal much in the way of details, but definitely points to CES 2013 and contains imagery suggestive of a new Galaxy device. The video (shown below) promises viewers that "something new" will be revealed beginning January 8 through January 11 next year, the same dates for which the Consumer Electronics Show is scheduled.

While the South Korean conglomerate has continually declined to comment on any forthcoming devices, today brings word that the next entry in the Galaxy S series could feature a 5-inch 1920x1080 resolution display. Further, Samsung is said to be preparing to reveal the device at next year's Consumer Electronics Show in January.

Samsung dismisses report as 'media speculation'

Samsung has dismissed earlier reports that the company would be releasing the follow up to this year's Galaxy S III early next year. In a post to the company's Twitter feed, the South Korean electronics giant called reports that the Galaxy S IV would be revealed in February "media speculation" and "not true." The supposed Galaxy S IV leak was viewed by some as a means of mitigating the hype surrounding the iPhone 5 following that device's phenomenal performance in pre-order sales over the weekend.

Samsung may be planning a follow-up to the Galaxy S III, if rumors are to be believed. According to sources of the Korea Times, the company will allegedly reveal the new handset, called the Galaxy S 4, at the Mobile World Congress expo in Barcelona next year, as a response to the recent iPhone 5 announcement by Apple.
