Revised Samsung smart watch will have updated design
The successor to the Samsung Galaxy Gear smart watch could be launched in March or April at a London event, according to a report. The smart watch is also said to have a curved or flexible OLED screen, instead of the original's 1.6-inch AMOLED version, along with a new updated design that could help Samsung gain more acceptance in the wearable devices market.
Software update to add support for Galaxy Gear smartwatch
Samsung will be bringing Android 4.3 to two more Galaxy devices later this year, after revealing its new Galaxy Note 3 will ship with the latest version of Jelly Bean. Both the Galaxy S III and the Galaxy S 4 will receive the mobile operating system update, which will be issued to carriers sometime in October, and will reach customer devices shortly afterward.
Gear Manager app to change watch face, app settings on Galaxy Gear
The Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch will pair with a smartphone over NFC, according to newly-leaked screenshots. Images said to be from the Samsung Gear Manager app show that the Galaxy Gear will initially pair quickly over NFC, with further connections between phone and watch to take place over its low-power Bluetooth 4.0 radio.

An executive at Samsung has confirmed that its smartwatch will be launching at its September 4th event at IFA, alongside the Galaxy Note III. Mobile business executive vice president Lee Young-hee said that Samsung will "be introducing a new wearable concept device called Galaxy Gear" at the event, though initial reports of a flexible screen are apparently incorrect.
