Device passes full HD, Dolby 7.1 or DTS-HD audio
Gefen's new Wireless for HDMI 60 GHz has been demoed at the 2014 CES, and is designed for any in-room transmission of high quality, 1080p Full HD video up to 33 feet. It delivers 3DTV, is plug-and-play, and supports all audio formats including the new lossless High Bit Rate (HBR) 7.1 channel Dolby True-HD and DTS-HD Master Audio.
Seagate and Samsung agreement
Gefen has launched its GefenTV Home Theater Audio Processor and optional five-set, wall-mountable speakers. The Audio Processor comes with a variety of digital and analog audio connections, allows users to select the best sound delivery for their particular entertainment system. Along the back of the device users will find six analog RCA outputs that support 5.1 Dolby surround sound and can connect to any amplifier.
Gefen outs Mini Display Port/MiniDP adapters
Gefen on Wednesday released a number of new products that will hook up to the newly standardized Mini DisplayPort (MDP) connection found on late-model MacBooks and iMacs. This includes the MDP to HDMI adapter, MDP to DVI adapter, and MDP to DP cable.
Belkin cancels FlyWire
After delaying its FlyWire wireless HDMI system, Belkin has now announced it will no longer bring the device to market. According to a company representative, the FlyWire's demise is due to its high $1,499 price tag in the current economy. The FlyWire allowed users to send and receive audio and video sources that included HDMI and analog sources. A small receiver can be hidden behind a wall-mounted TV, for example, eliminating the need for any wires.
Gefen HDMI extender
Gefen has released its latest connectivity product, a fiber extender that can be used to transmit an HDMI v1.3 signal up to 330 meters (~1000 feet), for applications requiring HDTV distribution through large venues. The system integrates six lasers to serialize the signal, with support for 1080p HD and compliance with TMDS and HDCP standards. The sender unit is connected to the receiver unit using a single fiber optic cable that can send the HDTV signal with zero delay, according to the company.
Wireless HDMI Extender
Gefen on Wednesday announced its Wireless HDMI Extender, a device that provides users with cable-free HD extension for up to 30 feet within a line-of-sight. The Wireless HDMI Extender is designed for ceiling mounted displays, outside applications, and rooms where users want to avoid putting in extension cables. The add-on provides users with two HDMI inputs and one component HD video input that can be shared using UWB wireless that allows up to three HD signals to be sent to one location, including with 5.1 Dolby surround.
HD signal 300m on Cat-5
Connectivity solutions company Gefen recently introduced three new systems integrators for audio/video systems using the component video format. The new products allow a full HD signal to be carried on a CAT-5 cable distances up to 300 meters. This is ideal for large scale home entertainment systems, digital signage applications and high profile audio/video installations. All three products perform two functions from a single box, reducing the need for extra equipment.
Gefen HDMI IR Extender
Gefen on Thursday introduced its newest connectivity product, the HDMI IR Extender. Aimed at custom installations, the HDMI IR Extender will allow users to control their HD source units from another room without having to purchase and run lengthy HDMI cables through their walls. The Sender and Receiver connect via two standard Ethernet (CAT-5) cables, and can deliver 1080p resolution video signals over up to 300 feet or 1080i resolution over up to 150 feet. Audio is likewise transmitted.
Gefen has introduced a new USB to DVI Graphics Adapter that allows users to connect additional displays Mac OS X systems. This tiny adapter allows a plug and play connection of a DVI or VGA display to any USB 2.0 port so you can add digital video displays or projectors to your laptop and personal computer for simultaneous video delivery without needing a DVI port. Output video is delivered in the DVI-I format, allowing for either VGA or DVI display compatibility.
Gefen's HD amplifiers
Gefen today unveiled new distribution amplifiers that deliver component video to 1080p with audio up ranging up to a 300 meter distance. The company's 1:4 Component/Audio CAT-5 distribution amplifier and the 1:8 component/audio CAT-5 distribution amplifier both enable the delivery component video to multiple displays. Each device features RCA (left/right) analog and digital (S/PDIF and TOSlink) audio inputs to provide an easy way of sending audio as well as video to four or eight remote locations from a single source. Gefen's 1:8 Cat-5 receiver is priced from $1,500, while the 1:4 receiver is available for $800.
Gefen HDMI 1.3 splitters
Gefen today unveiled its new 1-to-5 HDMI 1.3 Splitter and 1-to-10 HDMI 1.3 Distribution Amplifier. The Gefen 1-to-5 Splitter for HDMI 1.3 accepts one audio/video input, such as a DVD player or set top box, and transmits the same signal to five displays. The 1-to-10 HDMI 1.3 Distribution Amplifier transmits one HDMI source to 10 displays, and both units accommodate larger distributions when 'daisy chained' with another splitter. Gefen's 1-to-5 splitter and 1-to-10 Distribution Amplifier are both rack mountable, and both are available for pre-order at $500 and $750, respectively.
Gefen TV, Switcher
Gefen today announced a new line of electronics products geared towards home theatre enthusiasts, which it is dubbing Gefen TV, leading off the line with the Gefen TV Switcher. The Switcher is capable of sharing one HDMI v1.3 port to four separate devices. In addition to being able to manually switch between devices, the Gefen TV Switcher can automatically detect recently powered devices and switch the signal accordingly. Gefen is selling the switch through its website for $200.
