Google Wallet app for iOS and Android adds order histories feature

Google's Wallet app, available for iOS and Android devices, has received an update today. The new inclusion of its Orders feature allows users to track active online orders, as well as access past transaction history information in one centralized location. Once Orders is activated within Google Wallet, users can view any receipts sent to their Gmail account within the app.

Repurposes Office domain for online productivity suite

One day after renaming its SkyDrive cloud storage to OneDrive, Microsoft has performed a second rebranding effort, this time on its online productivity suite. Office Web Apps is being renamed as "Office Online," and in an effort to make the service easier for users to discover and move away from Google Docs, Microsoft is now using the Office.com domain name for the web apps.

Google refines Drive apps with new icons, smaller toolbars

Google has updated its Google Drive online apps with a refreshed user interface. Google Docs, Drawings, Sheets, Slides, and Forms now include a colorful icon that returns users to Drive itself, while the toolbar section at the top has been made smaller, allowing more of the screen to be taken up by the files being worked on, and seemingly brings it closer in visual style to installable office suites.

Twitter for Windows 8 adds list support, multiple user accounts

Twitter for Windows 8 has received some updates, alongside some bug fixes. The Metro-style app update, available through the Windows Store, now allows for users to sign into the microblogging service with multiple accounts, adds support for viewing lists of Twitter accounts, and allows for user profiles and lists to be pinned directly onto the Windows 8 Start screen.

A post only briefly available on the Google blog announced features for the upcoming version of Google Drive for iOS and Android. The new version allows iOS users to edit Google Documents, and view Google Presentations. Google has since deleted the post, but presumably, the update is imminent.

Google Docs mobile editing grows to 44 languages

Google Docs mobile editing expanded significantly this week with the addition of 44 more languages. The company's update has expanded beyond English for the first time and lets smartphone or tablet owners edit in many Asian and European languages as well as languages that read right-to-left, such as Arabic or Hebrew. Language is so far the only known addition.

Golden Hill Software has released CloudPull, a backup application for Google Docs that saves documents, spreadsheets and presentations locally to the Mac as Microsoft Office files. Like Time Machine, CloudPull backs up automatically once every hour and maintains prior revisions. It can also retain documents that have been deleted from Google Docs, and supports up to 10 Google accounts.

Google recently noted that it has updated Google Docs to bring the full version of the cloud based productivity suite to the iPad. While Google recently updated its mobile version of Google Docs to support editing on smartphones, it acknowledged the feature was somewhat limited. The new version for the iPad allows users to tweak fonts, styles and formatting as they would using the desktop version of the cloud-based app. Similarly, the Google Docs spreadsheet now allows iPad users to insert formulas as they would on the desktop version.

May increase practicality of tablets

Google has announced that Google Docs, its online productivity suite, will soon support editing via the iPad or an Android device. The technology should roll out during "the next few weeks," and at least allow co-editing of documents produced by others. Support for authoring is unmentioned so far. On a desktop or notebook PC, Docs users have access to form, illustration, presentation, spreadsheet and word processing tools.
