Apple offers free 2-3 day shipping to beat the holiday rush
The online Apple store has posted a banner at the top of the page informing customers that they can "get it in time for the holidays with free 2-3 day shipping on everything in the store." The promotion is an annual benefit Apple provides to last minute online shoppers, and has been offered for the last six years.
Discounts were 'modest' last year
Apple is again planning to hold a Black Friday sale on Nov. 25th as it has in recent years, where buyers can "discover amazing iPad, iPod and Mac gifts for everyone on your list." The promo, which has begun to appear on international online stores, indicates that despite Black Friday being tied to the US holiday of Thanksgiving, Apple is again making the sale a worldwide event. The company's iOS devices were found to be the most-wanted gifts with kids and teens this year.
Documents corroborate rumors
Corroborating earlier rumors, HTC's Raider 4G smartphone appears to have passed through the FCC on its way to AT&T. The Commission tested a device that matches the Raider, also known as the HTC Holiday in other markets. The test documents suggest the handset will be supported by AT&T's 4G LTE and 3G HSPA+ networks.
Telstra branding the LTE phone simply the HTC 4G
The HTC Holiday has made an appearance at Telstra's 4g launch event. Although Telstra has branded it as the HTC 4G, photos posted by CNET show it to indeed be the Holiday under the hood. Telstra has been using 4G to describe its new LTE network and the phones that will run on it.
HTC Raider 4G ships to Korea first, US soon
HTC in a Korean launch confirmed a new flagship that's likely bound for the US. The Raider 4G is the production version of the Holiday and carries its predicted giant 4.5-inch, 540x960 screen. It's HTC's first truly new model to carry LTE and, when the network allows, can hit up to 100Mbps down or 50Mbps up on a 4G network.
ATT commits to LTE release date at conference
Stepping outside of usual press releases, AT&T CFO John Stephens at the Merrill Lynch MEC conference set a date for the long promised LTE launch. The 4G network will go live on September 18 in the promised five cities, including Atlanta and Chicago as well as the Texas cities of Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio. The first devices are already on the market and include the HTC Jetstream tablet as well as the Elevate 4G and Momentum 4G.
HTC Bliss may appear at NYC gathering
HTC dropped a strong clue as to the release timing of the Bliss with an invite it sent to members of the media. The notice points to a September 20 gathering in New York City. Little is mentioned as to the contents, but a request to "come celebrate in style" and the use of the Bliss' expected seafoam green and possible purple colors.
HTC Holiday puts down 29Mbps on AT&T 4G network
The upcoming HTC Holiday for AT&T has been
photographed running on the carrier's 4G network by BGR. The carrier's first 4G smartphone posted some rather impressive numbers according to the speed tests. In the Dallas/Fort Worth area of Texas, the phone managed to put down more than 29Mbps on downloads.
Rogers LTE network in Toronto due September 28
Rogers on Tuesday revealed it will be the first to get the Samsung Galaxy S II LTE smartphone, along with four other LTE-capable hardware devices. The also include the LTE Rocket mobile hotspot, a new LTE Rocket Stick, an unnamed LTE tablet (likely the HTC Puccini) and an HTC smartphone. At the same time, the company's LTE network will launch in Toronto on September 28, following a release in Ottawa early in July.
HTC Holiday to be an early ATT LTE phone
The HTC Holiday got its second reveal Saturday in a hint that it's a US-bound device. The 4.5-inch, dual-core flagship should now have full-fledged LTE for its 4G on AT&T's network. Engadget was told it should "amongst" the first AT&T LTE phones as well, although it might not beat the Motorola MB865.
HTC Holiday seen live for first time
HTC's ultimate flagship phone, the Holiday, has surfaced in live photos after it was recovered through a Craigslist sale. Both the phone's design and its firmware confirm the Infuse 4G-rivalling 4.5-inch, 540x960 display. The XDA forum member also confirmed the dual-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon, 1GB of RAM, a rear eight-megapixel camera, and a front 1.3-megapixel camera.
HTC Lead to join Holiday and Puccini for AT&T
The HTC Lead will pack LTE, a 4.3-inch screen and will appear on AT&T. It will likely join the HTC Holiday and HTC Puccini tablet as marquee devices for AT&T’s 4G LTE launch. Both the HTC Lead and HTC Holiday incorporate HSPA+ and LTE capability allowing them to achieve around 21.1Mbps downstream speeds.
HTC Holiday to get 4.5-inch screen, dual-core CPU
The future HTC Holiday handset leaked earlier in May will sport a 4.5-inch touchscreen and get a dual-core processor, according to a leaked system test. Posted by 911Sniper, the test image reveals the phone will have a very large 4.5-inch, 540x960 qHD display. The same 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon as in the HTC Sensation 4G is in place as well, paired with 1GB of RAM.
HTC Puccini and Holiday coming to ATT
AT&T is lining up a pair of HTC devices for the near future that could see the carrier get its first major 10-inch tablet alternative to the iPad, a pair of leaks showed. Nicknamed the Puccini, it would be one of the first truly 4G devices on the network and use LTE. It's presumed by PocketNow that the device would use Android 3.0 and support the Scribe pen support from HTC's smaller Flyer.
