AMD scores win with low power Z-60 dual-core APU in Fujitsu tab
adopting its new low-power Z-60 ‘Hondo’ APU for its Stylistic Q572 Windows 8 tablet. With ARM processors currently dominating the current mobile device space, both AMD and Intel are fighting to make competive x86 mobile chips that will find their way into new Windows 8 tablet devices. AMDs Z-60 APU’s are competing head-to-head with Intel’s ‘Medfield’ Atom processors for a foothold in light-weight iterations of full Windows 8 tablets.

AMD shares future chip plans, focus on 28nm dies
Computer chipmaker AMD took the opportunity at its yearly Financial Analyst Day to show off upcoming products for 2012 and 2013. They include CPUs and APUs (combined CPU and graphics) for ultrathin notebooks, tablets, all-in-ones, desktops, and servers, with most focusing on lower power use. Some are also designed with the developing world in mind and accessing the cloud.

Roadmap reveals Llano to be replaced with Trinity
Leaked AMD mobile platform roadmaps from German forum board 3D Center reveal that the Llano chip replacement, Trinity, is due to begin shipping in the winter of 2012, among other tidbits. There will be four specific models of the chip offered, though no specifics are available yet. A Bulldozer-based Piledriver core will be the basis, which will also underpin the company's upcoming AMD FX-series of processors.

Leaked AMD slides reveal move into tablet market
AMD is preparing to build chips for tablets, according to new leaks from Turkish site Donanim Haber adding to reports from over a month ago. This time, the focus is on low-power chips codenamed Hondo based on an upcoming Brazos-T platform that is due to hit production in 2012. The slides reveal the release date will coincide with that of Windows 8, which is also being made for tablets.
