InMobi sees smartphones outpacing tablets in growth
Mobile ad network InMobi released its latest Insights Report today, finding that devices running Apple's iOS platform retain the lead in mobile ad impressions, while Android devices are closing the gap. InMobi's analysis found Apple with a clear lead at 46 percent of ad impressions in the most recent quarter, up 4.1 percentage points from the previous measure. Android devices, though, grew 5.4 points in the quarter, and now account for 43.6 percent of market share by ad impressions.

InMobi hints iPhone has passed Nokia in data use
A symbolic changing of the guard has occurred this spring as InMobi revealed that the iPhone has passed Nokia's lineup in mobile ad traffic in Europe. Apple managed to grow 3.3 points to reach 19.5 percent of all European ad data where Nokia lost nearly a whole point to sink to 18.7 percent. The gain was helped by Nokia's weakness in smartphones; ad hits from advanced devices grew 31 percent, where basic feature phones grew at a slower 21 percent.

InMobi says Verizon iPhone helps close Android gap
InMobi in a surprise showed the iPhone clawing back mobile ad share from Android. Where Apple had just a 23.5 percent share of North American mobile ad traffic in January versus Android's 36.8 percent, Apple has leapt forward almost by half to hit 32.9 percent in April. Android saw a rare plateau at 36.9 percent.
