Pure announces new radio, availability of SiriusXM Internet Radio on devices
Pure has announced the availability of its new Internet and FM radio, the Evoke F4, including its access to SiriusXM Internet Radio for subscribers.The Evoke F4 is equipped with Bluetooth connectivity, and can be used both on its own or grouped together with other speakers for delivery a multi-room audio system. Central features of the radio include recording live Internet streams to USB memory sticks through instant and timed recordings, touch-sensitive controls, a large clear graphical display, input for MP3 player and headphones, 12 hours of portable listening per charge, and more.
Close to capturing second, but still far behind reigning champ Pandora
Barely six months after it debuted, Apple's iTunes Radio has already eclipsed Spotify and Google Play All Access (and others) to become the third most popular music streaming service in the US, according to a new report from Statista. While long-time veteran Internet radio station Pandora continues to maintain a clear lead over all rivals, it has taken 14 years for the latter service to reach its current level of 70 million active listeners (as of last April) and it continues to struggle with profits.
Net loss per share advised despite increased revenues
Internet radio service Pandora claims to control over 70 percent of the US Internet radio market. The company's recent earnings report covering the first quarter of the 2012-2013 fiscal year touted details of over 3 billion listening hours on the service by over 150 million users. The net loss for the year is expected to be up to $0.11 per share, despite both subscription and advertising revenue increasing in year-on-year comparisons.
Pioneer adds two Elite AV receivers, AirPlay/DLNA
Pioneer has taken the covers off to new additions to its Elite range of AV receivers. Both the Elite VSX-42 and the Elite VSX-60 sport AirPlay support for lossless iTunes and iOS streaming, as well as support for DLNA (1.5) and Bluetooth audio streaming with an optional Bluetooth adapter. They also come with vTuner Internet radio, which is extended in the VSX-60 to include support for Pandora and Sirius XM.

Record from multiple radio stations at once
Vemedio has introduced Snowtape 2.0, a major upgrade to its internet-radio recording utility. The software can be used to locate and record music from streaming radio stations, and to export the songs as iTunes compatible AAC files. The latest version features an enhanced recording engine, new Recording Schedules, and a redesigned editor complete with audio waveforms and added display options. Additionally, the update also adds support for AirTunes protocol, and is capable of streaming to Airport Express and Apple TV.
Three similar titles still available on App Store
The German developer Vemedio has voiced frustration with Apple, following the rejection of a radio recording app submitted to the App Store. The software, an iPhone version of the desktop title Snowtape, allows users to record and share audio streams from Internet radio sources.
Update supports QuickTime and WM Pro streams
Rogue Amoeba on Wednesday introduced Radioshift 1.5, an update to its Internet radio player and recorder. The latest version adds support for hundreds of new streams in Windows Media Pro and QuickTime formats. Streaming reliability is said to be improved, with automatic restart or switching to back-up streams if the feed encounters an error.
Snowtape 1.1 ships
Vemedio has launched the first major upgrade to its Internet-radio recording software, Snowtape 1.1. Snowtape allows users to locate and record music from streaming radio stations, then add artwork to the files and export the content as AAC files to iTunes. Version 1.1 adds an online radio directory with automatic additions of new stations as they become available. The directory already has 750 radio stations in its database.
