Apple agrees to out-of-court settlement in Intertrust patent lawsuit

Intertrust backed by Sony, Philips

Apple has agreed to an out-of-court settlement for a lawsuit brought by Intertrust Technologies last year, court documents show. The two parties filed for a dismissal yesterday with District Court judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers. She has since agreed to the request, dismissing claims with prejudice, and ordering each side to pay its own legal fees. The terms of the settlement haven't been made public, however.

Security, distributed computing patents at stake

Research and development firm Intertrust has filed a lawsuit against Apple, claiming violation of 15 patents connected to "security and distributed trusted computing," according to an announcement. The company doesn't go into specific detail about the patents, but identifies numerous Apple products as infringing, including Macs, the iPhone, the iPad, and the Apple TV, along with services such as iTunes, iCloud, and the App Store.
