Jolicloud acted on its pivot into a cloud service with the formal start of a semi-public beta of Jolicloud Me. The invitation-only option gives users a common place for their media and has unique options for finding content, such as where it's located. Users can organize content from disparate sources into individual collections.

Jolicloud switches from OS to cloud focus

Jolicloud has dropped its netbook OS focus in favor of a new beta service. The new framework hopes to unify multiple cloud services, such as Dropbox, Facebook, iCloud, and narrower services like Flickr, Instagram, or Spotify. Once linked up, content will show up in a central feed.

Jolicloud renames OS to Joli OS, makes other changes

Jolicloud to release 1.2 soon, renamesi OS

France-based Jolicloud this week announced on its blog that some changes are in store. It now plans to release version 1.2 of its Jolicloud online desktop later this week. Also, the company's free operating system will be renamed to Joli OS to avoid confusion with the desktop.

Running Jolicloud 1.1 OS, Chromium OS derivative

After teasing its new cloud-based netbook a few days ago,Jolicloud has released official pictures (included below) of its new device. The Jolibook requires an internet connection to run cloud-based apps that gave been built using HTML5. To do this, it runs Jolicloud 1.1 OS, which is based on the Chromium OS.

Jolicloud to release Chromium OS-based netbook

France-based Jolicloud will soon release a cloud-based netbook called the Jolibook, according to an e-mail teaser sent out recently. The device will be based on Jolicloud's 1.1 OS, but Chromium OS will underpin it. The netbook will depend primarily on HTML5 to get native-like apps from the web.
