Gefen intros new DisplayPort products

Gefen has announced the DVI to Mini-DisplayPort Adapter and DisplayPort KVM Switcher, two new devices that deliver plug-and-play system integration using DisplayPort connectivity. The DVI to Mini-Display Adapter is designed to convert DVI to DisplayPort using the devices connector interface, and supports video resolutions up-to 1920 x 1200. It includes pixel-to-pixel signal conversion and comes with built-in EDID support.

Gefen TV, Switcher

Gefen today announced a new line of electronics products geared towards home theatre enthusiasts, which it is dubbing Gefen TV, leading off the line with the Gefen TV Switcher. The Switcher is capable of sharing one HDMI v1.3 port to four separate devices. In addition to being able to manually switch between devices, the Gefen TV Switcher can automatically detect recently powered devices and switch the signal accordingly. Gefen is selling the switch through its website for $200.

IOGEAR unveils new switch

IOGEAR today unveiled the Dual-Link DVI KVMP & MultiMedia Switch (site not updated, alternate switch shown at right) at Macworld Expo. The 2-port switching device allows users to share a Dual-Link DVI display, USB keyboard, mouse, and 7.1 surround-sound between two computers. The Dual-Link DVI KVMP & MultiMedia Switch supports seamless switching and consistent resolutions among computers with various operating systems by remembering the monitor's optimum parameters, according to IOGEAR. IOGEAR plans to ship the new switch for $400 in February.

Belkin has taken wraps off a slew of new products at CES 2008, including new iPhone/iPod cases, an upgraded FM transmitter for Apple's media players, a series of other backpacks and cases, a new KVM switch and a desktop Internet phone for Skype. RockStar is a hub that connects a combination of MP3 players and headphones. Users can attach headphones and hear another user's play list. Or, additional iPods can be added another to mix songs and listen together. The RockStar will be available in March 2008 in the US, priced at $20. Also on the iPhone/iPod roster are the TuneBase FM ($90) and TuneCast Auto, FM transmitters that use ClearScan to seek out the best FM frequency to play the music from your media player. The devices will be available in April and February respectively. Finally, a series of new iPhone/iPod cases, including a slim fit, armband, and travel case have debuted. Prices range from $20 to $30.
